ROFL surely not!, those nice people at AOL wouldn`t allow that surely, they don`t allow most other legitimate forms of internet usage afaik, 10 million E-mails a day should have made someone suspicious, nobody is that popular (well...apart from me ), they should limit everyone to 200 emails a day or one every ten seconds or something unless they are a legit registered company, surely that would crimp the spammers style.

Is the guy a "Scammer" or a "Spammer"?.

Getting nine years in jail for spam is ridicules.
But scamming people from thier money like fraud is an entire different story, the article should have been more specific.

Spamming costs businesses money. It wastes bandwidth, and wastes time. When the originator is faked, as in this case, it causes yet more problems, distrust and more loss of business.

I had my address used to send spam once (it was harvested from my site). I was getting 3,000+ undeliverables an hour for 3 or 4 days.

I never said "God bless spamming"

In my opinion, recieving spaming is alot more bearable than doing time in jail...

It doesn't matter. It's illegal in that state and that's all that counts.

He didn't go to jail because of spam.. He went to jail cuz the man was a millionaire because of his scam spam business..

If it was just spam, I'd say give him a huge as fine. (cause with $750k/month salary he can afford anything) But his emails were more than just spam, he lied in them. Lied about the content and intention of the email and the email's origin. Now why would someone lie about the origin of their letter if they were doing something legit? Even telemarketers let you know who they are. Throw him in jail for 9years!

Though interest collected on his money is gonna be big. They should take it and donate to research firms.
