A few people I know have recieved email's like: Hey! Service Pack 3 is out but can't be downloaded from windows.com because of [such and such reason...]. So, use this link: [link]. And they have turned out to be virus's. Rememeber to ALWAYS get service packs/security updates from their legitimate owners to avoid security risks on your computers.
Keep your pc virus free and be aware .

I got a conspiracy theory that Windows hires hackers and virus programmers to damage peoples computers so when they have to reinstall windows they have to buy a new OS CDkey . That's just my theory but a theory isn't always true.

Yes... never download anything that is not from the "real" creator.... plus also take a look at the file size... I am sure a new upgrade from Microsoft would cost some money... and might be a large file size. So... the point... don't download any files you don't trust... and never except anything to be released... unless the company really says so... on the news or on the real official website.

I don't recall MS selling their service packs You can even get the sp2 on cd for free

I got mine, came about a month or so after I placed the order.. But it did come

I worked in a computer lab.. was much easier updated two dozen pc's with a cd, rather than downloading it or transferring it from a fileserver..

Microsoft will NEVER E-Mail you about new updates.
Also they DO NOT retail any upgrades as stand-alone packages.

All Microsoft Windows Service Packs will either be available via, the Automatic Update Downloader, or online by clicking 'Check for Windows Updates' in Internet Explorer.

If you purchase the updates they will come built-in to the Microsoft Windows, this is also available as a to CD-ROM download. It will only activate via YOUR current Windows Key, or will come with an entirely new Key.

The *only* way that you can be scammed from Microsoft updating is if someone is Phishing you. Remember that only the Microsoft Store will ever ask for your credit card number, and no-one will EVER ask for your Windows CD-Key EVER!

I know it's easy to scammed nowadays, but Microsoft do have a bloody good service in place to try and idiot-proof everything.
Remember when you set up Automatic Updating, you are given this exact same information.

Always make sure to READ CAREFULLY the EULA and Readme files at the installation or RunOnce of a product. They do contain your legal rights and useful information and aren't just there to bore you.

a)...it does bore me

b)...half (at least) is incomprehensible

c)...we all know what it sums up to (you are dirt, we are rich, do as we say or suffer)

d)...I actualy agree, but with provisions, they don`t offer that option so I click on agree (since clicking on "I do not agree" would be dishonest)

e)...I only spend 6 to 8 hours a day on the computer bar weekends, reading it all would take up too much of my valuable life

f)...the EULA does not apply to me since I do not "do" drugs (a user ) nor do I use "ends", (an end user ), who these people are and why they need to agree to this contract I don`t know, at least I am not one of them.

g)...instructions?....who needs instructions? thiz spolchicker wurks fyne withort tehm
