My game is finally ready for people to buy it, all thanks to TGC. Here is the link for purchasing:

Just thought I'd share that, I'm too excited to not tell anyone

Yeah, I'm a bad website designer, not my specialty. Maybe I should find someone to make me one...But the TGC website looks quite nice

And the best thing is that Sunday is exactly two years to the day since I started making Firewall. I started with nothing and am selling a game in under 2 years! Yay!

I think this shows that just about anyone can make a commercial quality game if they try hard enough and put enough work into it

Great work, Xander
Gongrat's again for the publishing - 'tis great to see that you've got it finished

Rob, you're wanting the full version, then

Components really add to the game, you can get control of resistors to make your memory harder to hack

Also, look at the drones and bases.
You need to get memory fast and early, so lots of cheap posters is probably the best way to go to start with.
Next, when you get enough, I recoment the pepper poster. It has a good range and is fast at it's job. ( and even better when you upgrade it with the cache you win )

When the memory's full, and you start to be hacked, a little group of pepper wreckers is awesome to start with ( then move onto bigger things like doomer etc ).

Get some Z-Tank hackers and set to work on a section of the enemy virus using your pepper wreckers as defence, and possibly a base or two.
Make sure you keep your posters close by too, so they can get at the free memory before the virii do.

Also, group your units. I have all my posters, all my hackers and all my wreckers in groups 1, 2, 3.
It's really good when you're getting bombarded and you just hit "3", then click and all your wreckers come up to defend

Another tip is to use the Agressive/Passive modes etc ( Select then click again on any unit(s) to bring up the sub-menu ). These really do effect the robot's behaviour, and in certain times it's essential to be able to let them run off and do their own thing instead of you controling them

Anyhoo... That's just how I play it, I'm sure there's plenty of other ways too

Jess.

I thought the game creators did not let games in it says on http://www.thegamecreators.com/?f=developer_information
Quote: "
Sorry, no Games

At this moment in time we do not resell or publish games. There are many publishers who specialise in selling games - but there are only a handful who specialise in game creation software, so we aim to keep our focus here where it is needed most.
"

Anyway looks like a really good game!

just a question, was the other game made in DB too? If so, who made it?

Part of solving the problem is actually noticing that the problem is there in the first place

Maybe TGC went to him?
TGC can publish anything they look good. they put that there so they didnt have a million submissions a day.

@ Dodo: What other game? As far as I know there was only 1 Firewall, and I started it 2 years ago

@ Darwin: Yeah, TGC came to me, I never asked them to publish it for me, in fact, I never would have dreamed that they would publish it for me

I think he means the other game that TGC is publishing -- Trackmania Sunrise.

Congrats, Bolt. Hopefully you get rich enough off this to retire (j/k )

Ah yes, Trackmania Surprise, I forgot about that

I think it looks awesome, I can't imagine it being made in DB, but that would be quite impressive.

Thanks hyrichter

I was searching around the internet for stuff on my game (I was just curious if it is out there) and found this:

http://www.tigsource.com/2005/04/firewall.html

I just thought it was interesting how these things get around. Judging by their source, they saw my post on the indie developer board. They don't say much nice about my game, but at least it is getting attention

Oh yeah, they say something about that it looks like my game is trying to copy some other game called Darwinia...I never even hear of it before

lol

I must admit, though, he has a point about those bullet points.

You really need to say how it's different to a normal RTS, what makes your game unique, and why would anyone want to buy it anyway?

You have to think as though you're trying to convince the WarCraft 2 enthusiast that your unique take on the RTS is better than anything Blizzard can come up with. While also thinking along the lines of the fact that they've never played the game, and wont even give you the time of day unless what they read on the back of the box ( in this case, the website ) looks really appealing and enticing

Just some food for thought

Jess.

[EDIT]
This is just thought up over the last 5 minutes:
* Virii are trying to take over your computer. You are the firewall. They must be stopped.
* Pit robot against robot in a unique strategie while outwitting the enemy AI.
* Robots go manu-en-manu ( that really isn't spelt right! ) in the Areana, while battling in third person mode for control of the MotherBoard.
* Standard robots give a wide range of possible strategies to defend, and take-back your memory.
* Unlock the special robots for that extra edge as you progress through story mode.
* Buy upgrades to max-out and enhance each robot's unique fighting style as well as adding new abilities.
* Capture memory back from the virii containing special components to give you a temporary enhancement in a number of different ways.
* Drones give an extra boost to your robots, or give that extra bang to explode an enemy.

[/EDIT]

Wow, thanks Jess. I guess I was being a little lazy with my website. I used up all of my creativity on my game I will edit that and make my game more appealing. Thanks

@ The Nerd: Well, I know I sold at least one...and it wasn't me

That's cool.

That's probably not the best way to describe it ( the way I did ), but it's gotta be better than what's there now

You might even want to go find yourself a writter, give him/her the game, tell them to play it, and as they play it, write a short story about it, then get them to summarize it into the features of the game. That'd be ideal, really. But, good luck trying to find someone to do it for you

Oh, and I'll be the first to admit that I can't write for crud

Jess.
