Hello

I dont know if you know about openoffice.org, but it is a suite like Microsoft Office, this is just free. It works as good as Microsoft Office, although I haven´t been using this much yet.

The suite inludes(I don´t know what they´re called in english, so I´ll just say the names they´ve got in Microsoft Office) :

Word

Powerpoint

Excel

and

HTML and drawing.

Yup. Version 2 Beta is out, and it now comes with a database tool aswell, which is very nice . It outputs the database in xml, which makes it easy to import in most programming languages in one way or another, as most support xml readers.

Only downside to OOo is that you need a fairly fast system to get the best from it, as it is written mainly in Java

It rules, and I can keep it on and play games like HL2 on very high graphic settings and it dosent lag a bit.

I downloaded v.1.1.4 because I was desperate for something along the lines of MS Publisher. I didn't find what I was looking for and don't use OO becasue it's easier to use Word but if I ever buy a cheapo comp that doesn't have any software installed OO will be my saviour.

Well my computer came with works, but not PP because microsoft sucks, so I downloaded Openoffice and I love version 1, but now it dosent look like in going to download version 2.

I have open office and abiword installed on both my linux and my windows partitions. I think abiword is a better word processor than open office but open office keeps the format of word documents better.

I use them because i would rather spend my money on games then giving microsoft more money to use their office program. I already had to pay them money to use windows. And isnt office about $300 or something. I would much rather use somethign for free then spend that much money.

I could never get over the visual style, which is something like a mix of 9x and 2000, the slow response times and the cryptic (to me) options dialogues... perhaps the newer version is better, but frankly it'll really have to be the bomb to get me to stop using Office XP. Once you've gotten used to its bizarre quirks and flaws, it's a damn good program.
