You surely must have seen this, but for those who haven't Google have released a fully-scrollable, zoomable to street level satellite photo map of the US.

Show us pics of your houses! (don't link directly to google maps, as that's as good as giving your address away. But a pic cropped to your house would be cool )

Here's hoping google do it for the UK

This is where I cross the border every week to check my P.O. Box

http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=49.002663,-122.265402&spn=0.003586,0.007297&hl=en

I would show my house but the map is too zoomed out in my area.

EDIT:

This is the the city I live in (Abbotsford):

Is that Getmapping? They've done the UK, but not is as much detail. I'd really like to see UK done to the detail google did

@Jeku: You live in abbortsford? As in YXX? I think I saw that in my database of airports (don't ask.. :/)

http://www.multimap.com has aerial photos of the whole of Britain. Pretty detailed, you can pick out your house.

I live in Abbotsford, yes. It's about a 35-50 minute drive (depending on traffic) to Vancouver. YXX--- that's correct, it's the Abbotsford airport's code.

*Cheers* A map system that works with the mouse! No more 'click on the arrow images'. Why just the U.S? The UK is the only place worth mapping.....

[Spaghetti junctions and round-abouts, why dont you guys have round-abouts?]

Note; According to multi-map, myhouse doesn't exist [PE10 0QN]

Yeah, that uses GetMapping. The detail on that though is a bit disappointing, my house is just a green blob where a tree is (and it doesn't have the amazing click-n-drag).

The click-drag is an example of the power of dynamic scripting--- and no it's not Flash. It's actual, dynamic, non-compiled script. It's the future!

The Multipmap photos aren't as good as they used to be. When they first promoted it, I zoomed in until I could see my house and garden.

In Denmark, they have fully scrolling and rotating satellite maps.
A colleague of mine showed me his house, then followed the road 20 kilometres to his office! Now that was smart, you could see individual cars on the road.

Like BatVink says, when getmapping first came out a few years ago, they had a really nifty activex type zoomy scrolly thingy that let you click, drag and zoom over the whole of the uk. The bandwidth it used must have been phenomenal.

This was obviously just to get people interested and a few months later it turned into what it is now, a glorified shopping site.

Multimap gives you a degree of zooming so you can pick out your house but you have to pay getmapping some cash to download a highres version.

Boo!

I reckon we're following about 30 years behind the CIA here

Seriously, the new mapping software cropping (awful pun not intended) up all over the place is quite fun.

They don't have close up imagery for my house yet, which is odd because it's crystal clear in Keyhole. They can't have loaded the whole database yet...
