When at the models section of the Dark Matter website, it says that you can animate the characters to either Attack or Die or be Idle or Figit and all that. Well, when using Dark Matter, to get the animtion for the person you have to die, would you need to animate the person dying frame by frame, by hand? Or can you just make it simple, and like hit a button or select something that automaticly adds an animation of the person dying?

This question may be simple, but I may be getting Dark Matter (I NEED IT!!!) and DarkBasic ( I NEED IT ALSO!!!), so I'd just like to know the answer to this question.. Thanks!

I think you misunderstood the DarkMATTER website - what it means is that the models are already animated for you - you don't have to do anything "frame by frame", we did all that

Oh, ok, thanks!! Thank you very much! And while your here, can you please tell me the difference between the DarkBasic Electric version thing, and the DarkBasic Lite version? I'm probably getting, actually, the DarkBasic and Dark Matter package, which is $20 less of its origanal price, and I hope to get that soon.

But, not to make you feel bad or anything, but someone on the RealGameTools forums said that if you have a guy holding an AK47 gun and you choose the "attack" animation, they said it looks bad because he is holding it like a pistol. Is this true? And does it still look good? Thanks for all your help

He may well be holding the gun inaccurately - but these are models after all, you can change them

DarkBASIC Lite is a slightly restricted version of the full thing (you can't save your own EXE files for example) but it's a very cheap way of figuring out if the program is for you or not. Personally with the reduction in price now on the main package I'd opt for that instead, but there is a trial version so be sure to test it first! The electronic version is the full thing, but you get less models/textures and it is sent to you by email (well, a download link actually) so you can have it quickly rather than wait for the box in the post.

Cheers,

Rich

K, thanks! I'll just go with the package with DarkMATTER and DarkBasic then. I mean, I cant just have DarkBasic and not DarkMatter with what I am doing!

But to edit the models.. Would I be able to do that in DarkMatter, or in another program like Milkshape3d? Thanks for all your help (so far)!

To my knowledge DarkMatter doesn't come with model editing software, however it does come with a nice model viewing program, which shows the animations and limb numbers and names and stuff. It also comes with some useful example games and conversion tools.

Ya, know, I think there should be a rule that only experanced programers can use the Jedi Avitars. Only when one has learned to use Dark Basic can one fight or become the Dark side.

Or a bowling ball dreaming I'm a plate of samishi?

I'm not challanaging your ablility, it's just kinda disallusioning to see a Jedi post a question in the Noobie section.

Really? I don't.

Ok, looks like I have'll to explain my self after all.

To me, and countless other geeks, freaks, and/or weirdo's, the Jedi is the highest, most powerful being short of a demigod. To use an avitar of one gives the impresion that you are very skilled in topic at hand, in this case Dark Basic. To use an avitar of one when you don't show such traits is an indierect attack on our choosen obsession. Of course that just my opinion.

As for the Dark bit, it was a pun.
