compact = better if and only if no one else needs to see your code.

You can't update something that is perfect.
Though, I don't see what makes compact harder to update either.

i've never seen perfect code, even solitaire is buggy, and consitering it was made by MS, i'm sure NOTEPAD is buggy.

other than only 1% of coders would have the energy enough to try and read it

arg, you didn't get it... I was being 1337.

It's just a matter of coding style. If you're not used to somebody else's style, you won't like reading it anyway.

Notepad is buggy. At some point, my version became corrupted somehow. So it runs fine, however I cant actually use it. A listing for notepad pops up in the processes list but no window pops up. Not sure if this is a bug with notepad itself or it just got corrupted somehow. Either way it doesnt work anymore.

As much as you dislike Microsoft and want to blame bugs on them.. Let's think about this for a moment.

Spyware overwrites notepad.exe with it's crazy spyware self.

Loads into memory, but no window pops up.. Normal user thinks *eh darn M$*, normal user would typically not check processes either.

Notepad is a common app, so it's more likely to be run (if it's (infected notepad) not run at bootup to begin with)

Infected Notepad does it's spyware stuff with the user having no idea he's infected, except for the only clue, which is that notepad doesn't work but the process loads.

Unless its a keylogger, no problemo.

The reason I say "stop talking out your butt" is that there are about 100 pieces of information I didnt tell you nor am I going to tell you. If you knew everything that I know about my computer then you would know there is no problem (unless keylogger but highly doubt it). And Im quite the unaverage user. Not sure if thats a good or bad thing.

... this makes no sense Unless you got some really good tidbits, I don't really see how it could be a whole heck of a lot else than foul play.. Oftentimes it would crash if a file were corrupted... It could be a dll and it happened to not crash, a faulty file corrupted by a bad sector or somethin...

Actually I have noticed that sometimes in Notepad when I save, the carret sometimes moves to a different positition (back a few spaces). Coincidence? I think not! DUN DUN DUUUUN.

You mean you can get spyware even when you don't connect to the net and don't install anything? Where does it come from?
