There's that Microsoft Space Trader... Freelancer? that's free, can't remember the address, but you can download the full game (and source) for free now.

Oops.. my bad heh ^_^ Well they're both Microsoft space games, and I've never actually played either.





It appears to be only available in Source (which is 500MB inc media) but if I remember when it was first released I was able to compile it in VC98 SP5 PP without any problems.

God... I've got Anarchy free for the year, but I still can't stand the bloody game. heh, oh well Guild Wars is out Friday (and I get it delivered YAY!) so we all know where my Friday is gonna be spent mwhaha

uhh.. ive played anarchy for a while now, it really sucks..
all i do is getting killed by some tiny beach lizard. and the battle system is screwed. i cant attack and move at the same time

I hope that isn't for Anarchy, because the game has been retail for almost 3years now. I'd say my biggest problems were the speed, and the battle system.

It's just no fun if you get killed every time you battle.
Also annoying to be playing at like 10fps and realise you DO have it on the lowest graphcis...

this is on the same computer that runs Half-Life 2, Final Fantasy XI, and Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory all at 50fps!

It's just a piss poor game, which is no doubt they they did the 'free for a year' offer. To try and get people to play it again.

but I thought it was just an experiment to see if more people would play a free mmorpg game, rather than having to pay for it..

but i do agree with you that it really sucks, even though my own home country made it

Heh... I wouldn't worry, The Angel of Darkness sucks cause of the bugs and I helped with the early development

There are some other cool things out there though, I wonder if Guild Wars would count.. because it's Free To Play, but not Free To Buy.

Damn that Wolfy:ET loves downloading stuff - everytime I go to start a game it has to download tons of level files, it'll probably be fine after it's updated itself - just a warning to anyone in too much of a hurry to play it.

We should have an apollo battle sometime on it if there's a few people who play.

RTCW-ET has been out as long as RTCW, which is what 3-4years?
So most people still playing it are doing so on customised maps.

Would be cool to get a game going from everyone here.
Some deathmatch sessions in a number of games would be fun.

Half-Life 2
RTCW-ET
Doom 3 (Patch 1.1 makes it playbale, 1.3 is suppose to fix network latency problems)
Unreal Tournament 2003/4/XMP
Counter-Strike / Source

would be fun. I tried to setup a Doom SW server a while ago, didn't quite work cause no one could connect.. but now I've got a better network setup might be worth a try again.

I'v played for months and I am still hooked on it. You can pay 5$ dollars a month to get new skills, quests, and more of the world, but I find it is still very fun for non-members. Although its graphics are not the best, it is still vary fun because of the gameplay.

One thing I hate about some of those mentioned above is when the sites don't give you the total download size, I may be on broadband but I'd like to know how big the download is before I start!
