Actually I like Dark Flames less than yours. While more visually appealing, it isn't a Logo.

I'd suggest because it's called light making something like a Sun Style logo.

Have one half white the other half black... like this

Obviously that's only something quick, but it's an ACTUAL logo.

Raven you really have no sense of design do you?
The second logo is a much better improvement over the first one.

Actually I agree with Raven on this one. The second one, while graphically superior, isn't really good for a logo per se. A logo should be rememberable and unique, like EA's with the sphere and cone.

I never said it's a good logo. I said it's better than the other one.

(Which btw wasen't very "rememberable and unique". Unless you're into MS Paint.)

Well that's what Raven said as well, it was more 'visually appearing', but it wasn't as good a logo. I was actually going to make that point myself, it's simply a graphical mess with some text stuck on top. It looks better, but I wouldn't consider it a logo in the slightest.

Raven - I didn't know you designed it, because you said it's an ACTUAL logo. But if you did, good job Simpler is better.

heh, that was just to make my point about it being a logo rather than a graphical collage.
If you have under it a nice and simple LIGHTBASIC or something it would look quite snazzy... dunno, it's amazing what photoshop can do when your bored and have a spare 5minutes.

Good grief! you make a language and you use the word LIGHT in it and you don't even consider a lightbulb for a logo - what you need is a nice modern looking lightbulb concept with some neat lettering.

Logo's should always do their job, and all a logo has to do is stick in your mind - so simpler is always better where logo's are concearned - the actual rendering can be as elaborate as the occasion requires, but the overall shape and colour is most important. That's why big companies don't chop and change logos - and when they do, they change it gradually over years sometimes. I mean, EA used to have the kind of logo that anyone could draw, hell you could probably make it out of cut up bits of paper in about 3 minutes, but it's still recognisable because of the basic shapes and colouring when you compare the old and new style.

The new logo is just letters, they have the whole circle thing going on too for the actual games, but when you look it's just the letters EA.

It used to be the Pyramid, Sphere, and Square in Green Blue Red.. some natty scanline effects either the full company title below.
They've gone all 'Cher' with just using the letters heh

Stil yeah this is the point, while you can make it much prettier later.. the main objective is to make a basic logo that is two-tone and memoryable.

It has to be two-tone if you want to be taken seriously because people aren't going to print out full 32-bit beautilfully designed logos for the letter heads.

Most of the big companies just rely on a text style that is unique to them.

Intel, Microsoft (Butterfly = MSN, Flag = Windows, Microsoft is just the word Microsoft with that little square taken out, they've had it for almost 25years now too.. still very memorable though.)

Atari's I really like actually. Because they have the logo, but it's actually part of thier name.

ATRI very snazzy

At the EA building in town they have a physical representation of the old logo at the front gates--- like a huge sphere, cone, and the word Electronic Arts---- it looks very cool

I thought a good example of a modern logo is Halo. It's mostly strange sci-fi shapes and objects integrated into text...

I think that having a shape integrated into the name is a great idea...
