What you're looking for is a modeler. Give Milkshape a try. If you're willing to spend $, buy Maya, it's really good for char. modeling. Go to 3dlinks.com and you'll find lots of modelers with some info on all of them: some are free, most are not. If you don't like modeling, look for some free models, but almost always, they come without a texture or animation, so they're useless. Darkmatter is good it has lots of models, fully textured and animated. Also, look in one of the stickied threads in 3d chat, people debated about some modelers there, forgot what it's called. Hope this helps.

Metel Artz,

Blender, located at http://www.blender3d.org is a great FREE modeling(and post-production) tool for games and movies. Right up next to Max, it will be a tool, that once use to its interface, which is most efficient and easy to use. Go get it for FREE and you will not be dissapointed.

@Nano: No offense, but I don't think Blender is a good choice for a pure beginner.

@Artz: Try getting your feet wet with Milkshape before you try Blender.
Or you could wait for WOLF's EZactor:
