Would anyone out there please help me? My class is doing a "project" as our final, and I need help. We are doing what's called "the dig". There are two teams. Each team designs a culture and artifacts. Then the two teams "dig" up the other team's artifacts and try to find the culture.

I need to think of an artifact, but I can't think of one. My job is "law enforcement". The artifact has to be within 6in. square, and it has to contain a message. I will appreciate anyone who helps.

The culture is in the future, but primitive. They have a barter economy, so there is not much crime. What I mean is there was an apocolypse (sp?) and a group of people moved to an island to get away from the technology. They love to hunt, so the artifact has to be about hunting, or at least lead to something about hunting. And there needs to be a way so that the other team can decipher the meaning of the artifact, but it can't be too obvious.

How about a 10 foot green bunny with wings and a spear in the side of it? Now stop laughing and think about it. Big nuclear war, humans all start again. Now either the animals have mutated from the radiation, or they were all experiments from before the war (seriously evolved from amazing futuristic experiments). So points to future. The spear obviously points towards humans being backward. Ta da. Might not win a prize, but will definitely get a good laugh, plus is actually *exactly* what you asked for. Assuming I didn't miss anything when I sped read your entry......

Aha. So now I notice annoying 6 inch rule. Bugger. How about a 6 inch robot fish with a spear head through it? Aha. And the message could be that the spear head is actually made out of a baked bean tin or somesuch.... with an expiry date of 2025!!!! Oh yes. C'mon. Didn't have to be a decent message did it? Better not, otherwise the teacher is asking for exactly is in their head. Annoying.

I'd find a really old padlock, and get a scummy looking scrap of paper and write out a fake ticket for something really insignificant, since there is not a lot of crime in the culture.
