Anyone see this tonight? It was unbelievable, and very, very scary.

Rather than explain it myself, here's an overview from a review...

It is fake...He is an illusionist.

Although I believe that the trance etc. were real, because it is possible to do that. He played an illusion on the person. I am usually skeptical about his tricks, simply because there are logical ways that they are done.

What do you mean it was fake? Do you mean the target was an actor?

Derren uses various methods, including hypnotism and persuasion for his tricks. This, I would imagine, verges on the side of hypnotism.

I've seen him live. It is quite obvious how many of his performances work. But the fact still stands - he is damn good at what he does. Although you can see how he does things, you would struggle to replicate them with as much success.

Would've been amusing if the victim was trained in martial arts and beat the crap out of all the actors. Or alternatively found some sort of weapon such as a plank of wood in the corner forcing the actors to run away screaming.

Simple... yet fun!

I did wonder about this myself. Maybe part of the illusion is that the guy had a gun when playing in the pub, and so adheres to the "rules".

It was weird how he was absolutely, completely distraught - screaming and crying - then when he came out he was absolutely buzzing. "Man that was gooood!"

I was confused as to why although he thought he was playing the game and could remember being in the game, at the end he didn't mention the fact that Derren had walked towards him and talked normally - surely he would have thought this is as not part of the game.

Simple... yet fun!
