greetz peeps.

For anyone who wants to enter the puzzle compo, I have lifted the restriction i had placed on a large collection of fonts. you can now use them in any TGC run compo. (and cinco de mayo, of course. for you Jimmy, may i recommend '057_graff_01_purple.bmp' from the collection)

there is a hundred of the little blighters, making a collection of media that is around 350MB in size (uncompressed). and the fonts range from futuristic to retro, from crazy to cute. all in gloroius Techicolor. (except 033_chromalux_1980what.bmp) looks more like it should be on a zx81.

anyway, it's BIG it's PHAT and it's FREE. nab em.

geecee3.

PS. I thought this would be the best place to stick this post.
the fonts are in program announcements.

hi Jeku,

they are real easy to slice, so you should have no probs.

yeah, if i can get a clearer definition of what a 'puzzle' game is!
it's just too big a genre with too many possibilities.

every game has a puzzle of sorts at it's heart, and the name 'puzzle game' is something we have to thank idiot games reviewers for. people like dominic diamond and julian rignall wasted the 'games scene' when they chopped it up into stupid genres, games are games. they all have a puzzle in them somewhere, no matter how mindless it looks.

cheers m8. geecee3.

ps. i don't think people understand what it is i'm actually giving away free here. LOL. a friend who is a graphic artist told me i was mad to give them away and that i should sell them in packs. £10 for 30 bitmap fonts. and even then i was still mad. if these were textures for use in 3d studio or something like that, how much would you pay for them then? now there's a thought. LOL.

I would say a 'puzzle game' is a game that requires deep thought in order to 'solve' a greater problem. Something that requires putting many things together to solve a bigger picture(in a sense), but you are right, the genre is idiocy!, just use your best judgement

so...how do we exactly use these? just put them in our fonts folder and hope whomever uses it has the font? or is there some "special" way to do it?

You have to load the image, probably as a bitmap, then GET IMAGE into individual characters. It's a simple case of 2 nested loops, to traverse the image horizontally and vertically.
