I am new to DB and I'm eager to learn it and make my first 3D game but I can't use it. My computer more than meets the minimum requiremens but for some reason the screen flickers really badly when I run DB and DM browser. It only happens in those two programs and I've no idea what could be wrong.

I posted in the bugs forum but haven't recieved a reply. I'd like a solution quickly or I'm going to be stuck with software I can't use and can't return.

And on that note, where is the return address so I can get my money back if I can't fix it?

Pidgeon,

You are probably not recieving a reply because no one has dealt with this problem before, at least from what we understand the problem is. When you say, "...when I run DB...", do you mean when you try running a game or program that you have made? Or, do you mean when you run the DarkBasic editor, in which to edit code?

There is a link at the bottom of this page which includes these words, if you would like some technical help from the expert technicians of DarkBasic.

yes, specifics help alot ....
system spec? windows OS ?
DB version ?
Patches installed?

the original DB .... DBv1.08 and before, was not WinXP
compliant. Later patches did help this, but information is needed.

Thankyou for taking the time to reply.

System Specs
OS: Windows XP Proffesional
DirectX: 8.01
CPU: 2Ghz AMD
RAM: 256MB
Graphics Card: GeForce FX5200 120MB
DB Version: "Version One" but I did install some 'extras' that keep saying "30 days left" when I run DarkBasic.

The Problem
When I run the DarkBasic editor the screen flickers. The same flickering occurs when I run the DarkMatter browser. I have not encountered this while running games made with DarkBasic so far.

I have the DarkBasic package that includes Riftspace and DarkMatter.

well, i have a problem kind of like that, but i can overcome it. sometimes DB quits when i run the program or when i go to the browser, so i save every time i type in a command.

like this:
set text size 36
text 100,100," i need to save a lot"

then i save.

program 'till your eyes get glazed over, and never give up.

What are you talking about? I can get it to play MP3s, MIDI, and WAV files just fine. Oh and yes, do use DarkEDIT. I haven't even looked at the default DB editor for over a year.

ok, using XP ...

try adjusting the property settings for the app.
I tend to run in an Win98 compatible mode.
Also, if you have DB patched to 113, then it should be XP
compliant. Also, ensure that DarkEdit is version 1.56 as
1.5 is unstable in XP.

See if that helps any.
