ok I have this old pc well not that old but it has a petium 1 cpu in it if that says anythuing but anyway

ok i was trying to get its hardware setup to prepare for the install of win98(such as put in a new cdrom drive, hook up a monitor, check all connections, hook up a 2gb hdd) and while doing all this it never did boot right for some reason the hdd spun up but was not detected so i was switching cables cause i wasnt for sure what was primary, secondary, slave, master and i changed the cable around one time started the pc but the monitor didnt get a signmal so i check the pci video card and ram but still nothing but then i figured out it is soemething with the motherboard cause the keyboard freezes(del doesnt bring up bios cause if it did then i would be abnle to set numlock and capslock on and off but it is stuck at just on) i have now stripped it of everything except for video card,1 strip of ram(have tested both strips however in different slots and nothing happened),floppy drive(no cdrom or hdd) and no comport mouse

so what could possibly be wrong and what could be done to fix it
i know it couldnt be ram because i tested both strips in every slot
i have even took out the cpu to make sure no problems were there i have checked every power and cable connection but i just cant figure it out

well a PC that old probably uses SDRAM (is that the right name?) you need the two strips in

I'm not sure of anything else
