Wotcha, folks.

I'm a DBp virgin, so be gentle with me please.

I have a simple bit of code:

The words HELLO MUM appear blurry to me, yet if I 'rem' out the SET WINDOW LAYOUT line, it's nice clear and crisp!

Can someone explain (in laymans terms) what's going on?

I hate going further when I don't understand so spparently straight forward.

Many thanks,

Tobo.

Print is a very basic command. AFAIK, it just uses the system font and default size to print to the screen, rather like a Command window would.

When you SET WINDOW LAYOUT, you are probably changing the viewable area - the black bit in the middle. So if, for example, the system font is 12 pixels deep, it may now be 11. Something somewhere has to give, and that's where the fuzz comes in.

Have you tried using the TEXT command instead? You can change the text size, style, colour etc... with TEXT.

If you remove the...
Quote: "
set display mode 800,600,32

set window on
"

...bit and just set it up in the editor it will work just fine !

Now the million quid question - WHY ?

Why didn't the commands have the same effect?
