i have searched the forums for a while and havent been able to find anything like this. what im looking for is a way to access files directly from a zip file.

the only things i have found is stuff that will extract the zip, read a file, then delete everything... dont know if its possible with DarkSDK or not (also dont want a bunch of external dlls if possible). off-topic is DarkSDK the "proper" way to write it, or is it like DarkGame SDK, DGSDK, etc? (if someone were to put it in the credits, opening scene, etc)

You can probably locate a .lib file for the zlib library if you hunt around. You'll need one that is compiled using the single-threaded model.

If you can't find one, then you'll need to download the source and build it yourself.

off-topic: name of
I think I have read in the IRC chat with TGC (link in newsletter)
that they want to remove the "Software" part.
So it would be "DarkGame Development Kit" or "DarkGameDK" or "dgDK/DGDK" ... there are some funny combinations possible *g*
Though, I have no idea what the official name is, on the page it is still named as "Dark Game SDK" so I assume you have to take that name.

The change was the removal of the word 'Basic' - it seems silly to have that word in the name when it's a C++ based SDK.

DGSDK is what I call it.
