Sorry guys only a screenshot available at this point.

This game is called "The Cat Burglar". The aim of the game is to reach the top of the building so the burglar can get his loot. Security Gaurds are in each room inside the building. Some are lazy and go to sleep. when they do this they have turned the lights off (Blue Window). Some are uptight and do not want to lose their job, and so they stay up all night with the light on (Yellow Window), And some of the security gaurds are either Extremely Bored or Crazy, as they flick the switch On And Off. The cat burglar can only make contact with the dark windows, because the security gaurd inside will not be able to see him. If the cat burglar touches the lighter windows, the jumpy, uptight gaurd will notice and call for backup.

Soon To Be Added:
Spotlights (if the cat burglar makes contact with the spotlight he will be seen)
AVI Cutscenes (Deaths,Victories etc..)
Main Menu

Problems:
I don't have a model for the cat burglar. If someone would like to help me with this please contact me. you will be included in credits and prize (of course!).

Can't decide on music. Any Suggestions?

Another problem is that i don't know if this will fall into the puzzle game category/genre.

Help on these problems will be greatly appreciated.

C&C is Welcomed

Thanks,
Cya Later,
Axelman

thanks guys.

If you could make it peter, that would be great! the basic idea i had in mind was a cartoony sort of guy in like a black lycra bodysuit. it would help if it was lowpoly because my computer is really shoddy.

Thanks for the comments guys!

You're at school on a sunday... sunday school??

This is a very cool idea, and I've only seen something similar once in a Spiderman game.

I could probably sketch the cat burglar clinging to a wall quite well, but right now my modeling skills frankly suck.

@Bizar Guy- if you can sketch him for me i'd be happy to model him

i can't sketch work beans (my guys are literaly stick figures) but i can model pretty well from a sketch usually...

I would say model him in some simple position, and then animate him to move like that. That way if needed, he can be set up to look cool on the menu, or whatever Axelman may have in mind.

EDIT: remember Axelman, The TGC computers are probably way faster than yours.

I apointed myself something?? I just drew how I imagined the Burglar to be. If this came off the wrong way, I'm very sorry.

And yes, I'd love to see a demo too, even if it's exactly the way it is in the first post.

thats a really sweet picture bizar guy!

it would be really good if you could model it peter, and yes, i would like it animated if its not too much trouble.

the animations i would suggest are:

Climbing Upwards (Can be reversed for Climbing Backwards)
Climbing Sideways
Death (Imagine him falling of the building)
Victory (When hes at the top of the building - I was thinking maybe jumping with his fist in the air.)

Idle (Just breathing, looking left to right.)

i really appreciate both of your contributions bizar and peter, you will both be included in credits.

To those people requesting Demos, im in the middle of a speed bump at the moment, but i should be back on track soon.

Cya Later,
Axelman.

heehee...i'll just think of rocky at the top of the stairs

i've got his body modeled (due to having a zombie laying around that i hadn't used for anything...and i easily converted him to a cat burglar) all i need to model are the sucktion cups on his hands and feet...i've already rigged him...(of course i'll have to ad the sucktion cups to the rigging but that won't take much...)

UPDATE:
I've gotten over my previous speedbump and have hit another one, surprise surprise...

i'd say about 5 more days to a demo guys, don't hold your breathe.

Thanks for everyone's support!

I'd say...i'm impatient. I might have to upload a virus to your computer to upload the code to a hih-security FTP server...which in turn downloads it to my computer...then I download it to a disk and remove all evidence...then I go on vacation to Hawaii with my laptop and the disk...and I play the game and foget about school...and then I fail...and then I don't go to college...and then I get kicked out of my family...

I guess I have to try to be patient...

HI everyone

i haven't been working on the game lately because of a 3 day school camp. I have been in complete isolation. But the goog thing about this is that i have no homework and i'm not busy at all, so i have 2 whole days to program.

I have also beaten some speed bumps, such as:

Flickering Windows added
Spotlights added
Death, Victory and Game Over finished

i will be adding new buildings aswell, at the moment there is only 3 but i want about 9-10

NEW SCREENSHOTS / DEMO SOON!!!

Hi Everyone

The cat burglar is almost finished! (about 90% done)

i've finished all of the levels (10) and all i have to do now is make a high score table and maybe tweak a few things.

@Peter_ How's the model coming along? i'll need it soon, but i don't want to rush you.

Cya Later,
Axelman.

P.S - The demo was never released because i couldn't find a place that i could put a 5.6 mb file - if anyone has a site please tell me.

I am entering the puzzle game compo! my game is: The Cat Burglar! i need somewhere to Upload the Demo! Please e-mail me! i'm on Prozac!

E-mail the file to me at admin@hellmutharts.com and i'll upload it for you

i'm having problems animating the burglar(not familiar with milkshape's animation system) but i'll try and do it

[edit] oohhh...just figured out how Milkshape's animation works...i thought it was doing something completely different then it was...so now i can animate a whole lot easier! i have the climbing animation done already!

i'll go do the rest then texture him

BTW this won't be a proffesional animation...it is my first time animating anything but it should look pretty good considering the size it's going to take on the screen

Do you by chance know how to make animations in 3D Canvas and have them work when brought over into DB?

ugh...sorry it took so long...i just went to UV map my model and when i was done it had wiped out the animation! luckily i had a backup, but this means i won't be able to texture it for you

here it is, if you can use it (maybe you could just color him all black... )

the victory animation is in a seperate model (because i had to take off those silly hand cups)

so here's a breakdown of what's in each model...

--CatBurglar.x--
1-40: Climbing Up loop
41-220: Idle
221-250: moving sideways start
251-290: moving sideways loop
291-320: moving sideways end
321-430: Death Animation (he loses grip and falls into a spin...make sure you move him down while he's spinning )

--CarBurglarVictory.x--
1-50 : Victory

Note: if you need any of the animations altered (say for example you think the victory animation is too wimpy) then please tell me soon! I'm leaving in a week!
