i used this, its good, only problem is that my 30 second videos were 300+MB!

Video games…they can take you places unreachable, impossible, unfeasible. They put you in the book...they put you in the movie...they put you in a world, a world that before could only be imagined.

so run them through a MPG encoder
seriously, Fraps probably just saves the file as AVI (dunno...never used it, but AVI files are large iirc so it sounds like it does), you can get apps that will convert AVI to MPG4 or WMA or something nice and compact, you could also set the screenmode to something lower if its for web use (like 320x240) and record that, half the width-height=1/4 the filesize.

Personaly I use VirtualDub, its free and it handles loads of compression formats...does sound well and allows for various filters..like cropping resizing blur, sharpen, poke with stick...etc
you can find it here...
http://www.virtualdub.org/index

example..a 172meg clip...down to 2.4 using the DivX compression option in virtualdub
