The old stuff is indeed great but the fact that two of his 3 random comedians are long dead dosnt really instill me with hope for the U.K's comedic future.

come to think of it was that list not from the top 100 comedies or something because I can remember being shocked that Red Dwarf wasnt higher.
Big Train was a great show as well.

I just picked a couple of random comedians off the top of my dead - and I assume Brit comedy is still holding strong though (That guy who swears alot... cant remember his name - but He's very rude & very funny)

This is exactly what I mean; US humour, you actually need to see something happen (like a guy being pied in the face) whereas us Brits prefer something less obvious/more subtle/abnomral/refreshing (cant think of an example off the top of my head)

I don't think British/English humour is doomed because of it's subtly. I do firmly believe that it ONLY ends up appealing to the English as a result.

With more and more kids growing up on American TV, this also means that generally speaking it's starting to become alienated in our own nation.

If you remember the US didn't like Red Dwarf, and decided to try to make thier 'own' version which failed. Reason is that it failed because it wasn't Red Dwarf without the British humour.

An example of US Humour would be...
'Sean is driving along and hits a guy in the street. He gets out of the car and screams about the ding, before realising the guy is a zombie and looking scared jumping back in the car to peel off.'

The UK version would be..
'Sean is driving along and hits a guy. Open the Windows and goes "OMG! Are you alright mate?".. the zombie slowly starts to get up and Sean goes "Ah, thank god!" before realising it's a zombie and running him down again.'

To me the American version is funny because of the reaction, and lack of priorities. The British version is funny though, for the same reason.. yet it isn't quite as obvious what his priorities are.

For anyone who hasn't seen Sean of the Dead, I'd recommend you do. Just cracked me up ^_^

What an odd comment to make. Im not English does that mean I dont understand subtle humour?

Best scene in Sean Of The Dead was definitely the record chucking scene
