Hey all,
Well, at least it's not another word association thread.

Pretty simple, heres the text...

The darskBASIC flavoured elephant of death

Just try and type it without looking at the keyboard. It's pretty obvious you could get away with cheating but that ain't very fair now is it. Here's my attempt.

hehe first try Learned touch typing a few years ago when I was busy with vb. I've even gotten so that I know when I mess up and automaticly hit backspace on nasty complicated things. Type this without looking down at your keys:

I've been using computers since I was but a young child, and I recently switched to the dvorak layout, which means, since I'm typing on a QWERTY keyboard, that I can't look down. Doing so would mean that I would no longer have ANY idea what I'm typing, lol.

EDIT: I just realised, apart from when I see where the keyboard is I never actually look at it I can see the way my fingers move, which helps me co-ordinate I guess...

Dvorak was the one who came up with a typing system MUCH different than the original QWERTY one. You see, QWERTY was designed with typewriters in mind, it was designed to be slower so that you wouldn't jam the typewriter as often.

Dvorak changed all that with his new keyboard style. In his style, all the vowels and most commonly used consonants are on the home row. This makes it so that you don't have to move your fingers NEAR as much. I could type 90-100 with QWERTY with Dvorak I can type 100-120.

Daikanu Online owns also i dun have to look at the keybaord to type most of the time because it is natural skill but I do make a few mistakes ever now t ant then like I just did a dew types ago hhhmm......
but iam used to my own keyboard others dont feel right..(< not my keyboard I have no comp v_v)

You mean you guys actually look at your keyboard when you type??? I though everyone here knew perfectly well how to touch-type. I'm mostly self-taught but I type properly. At least I think... Anyway, the test, misspelled as it is in the original post.

I cant touvh type very well. I can only do it If i type slowly. There I jusr typed all this wkthout loooking at the keyboard.

I can sort of touch type with 2 index fingers and 2 thumbs. I never actually learnt to touch type, its just after typing out endless lines of code or playing MMORPGs that one day I realised I new exactly where all the keys are and had stopped looking at the keyboard.

Simple... yet fun!

Half way through I had to scroll up to see what the sentence was, but I still didn't look down at the keyboard. I can touch type but I tend to usually look down at the keyboard from time to time, like when I start typing.
