Just recieved a new e-mail from PayPal, telling me that my account has been compromised.

It looks real, and worst of all the the IP comes across as seeming official at a glance.

Remember to always check IP Links and make sure they're official from PayPal or your service provider.
Main reason I cottoned on it was fake before even opening it was, it was sent to my public email address, which isn't the hidden email i have specifically for online account.

I'm actually a little confused. How come the public email, that I use.. well just for here is subject to so much junk mail; but all of my other emails addresses including my hotmail one don't seem to have that problem?

Well no matters. Attached a screenshot of the email. (1280x1024)

Yeah, seriously, it's horrendous, they almost managed to get every 2nd word wrong.

wrong

If you ever do have any reservations just log in yourself manually into Paypal and soo if anything happens there. The hyperlink in that email most likely contains 'hidden' characters directing you to some sort of dodgy site.

The story there is also as bloated as can be. I mean come on, automated account checking processes? Yeah right.

Facts are meaningless.
You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true.

Lol, only an idiot would fall for that even only reading the first sentence (but there are people out there who fall for it, fools).

The most obvious way to tell it's fake is they address you as:
Quote: "Dear PayPal Client"

Any email from PayPal, eBay, your bank, etc. will always address you by name.

edit: I just checked my email and I got the exact same email.

At a glace it does look real, and yes.. no spelling mistakes, just some horrible grammar.
Thought I'd warn ppl for once rather than just make fun at those who cry after it affects them. (I'll be doing that too though )

As I said above it was obvious it was fake to me given they sent it to the wrong email address so didn't even need to open. Though what is worrying is if you do a background check on the email, unless you did it looks authentic.

The structure of the email and such are done in a way that if (like me) you only really glace across e-mail to get the ghist, then alot of it can fool you much easier than previous incarnations because it has the right words where it counts.

It is likely many people are like me and only take a second or two to check emails unless it's from someone who your actually waiting for a reply from.

Spelling mistakes are "bellow" and "seams" (unless they are into mining or fashion)

They're not spelt wrong. They're just not the correct word.
Thus gramatical error.

And when your skimming an email your brain fills in the words to be correct, especially given they are very close to the word which is ment.

Didn't I just post a long thread about this?

This is the scum of the web. Why don't you shut the site down?

Same type, different Phish.
Shutting down the site would be easy with a simple DDoS given it's a home system, could probably even throughput something nasty to open ports for steam or what-not.

Still, legally who would be stupid enough to get implicated in something like that?

actually David T, it's perfectly correct. "its" never uses an apostrohpe(sp?) except when it's short for "it is" . This means that Exeat is actually right.

Part of solving the problem is actually noticing that the problem is there in the first place

What I meant was something easier--- emailing their webhost and having them shut the site down b/c of TOS violations.
