Just got DarkMATTER today, and have started on my own WW2 FPS, the game will probably be like Medal Of Honor frontline, (My favourite console WW2 shooter)

ATM there are 2 Weapons (Colt .45, and an MP40) adding a Thompson Sub Machine Gun next.

Well heres a screen: (I just killed a german soldier...)

Please comment (I know this is kind of early...)

Video:

Tossing a grenade to kill an enemy...

if you have got a light mapping program then light map the level as it looks really artificial

but otherwise this looks very good

Quote: "Please comment (I know this is kind of early...)"

It's not early compared to the people who post things like
Quote: "I'm makin the l33t355 mmorpg ever man!!!! - i hav no screens but it will be the gr3at35t"
if you haven't already guessed my l33t is a bit rusty

Used to be Phoenix_insane registered in september 2003 despite what the date says to the left <--

Blender is free .... and it has a lightmapper !

Not looking bad atall...what can you do in it so far.
For grenades id set up a 3d vector with the speed, and each loop add gravity by decreasing the y value of the vector...then move the genade object the distance in the vector...if you like i can make a little demo to show how ?..if so email me or just post here and i'll see it next time im back !
good luck

Cool Baggers!

Would you be able to include collision with the .x level as well?

A grenade example would be great...If you could...

Oh and, Yeah WW2 is overdone in games generally...But ive never seen a ww2 game in DBPro so meh.

Is it ok if I use sparky's collision dll to handle the grenade bouncing ?

EDIT
Ahh what the heck... heres the demo anyway !
Ok so it uses Sparky's collision Dll (which you can find here)
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=31051&b=5

The code isnt heavily documented, as I wasnt sure how much you already know of vectors...if you havnt used them before I recommend this tutorial.
http://www.kentaree-studios.com/tutorials/vectors/index.htm

Other than that, enjoy !...if you need more help with it just say.

Omg... Baggers Thats Awesome!

You dont know how much that has helped me...

I have it implemented into the main engine now...Its so cool!

The way i would have done grenades if i didnt have that would be bad.

So thanks again...

Do you want credit in the game for it?

Sure!

It made sense yeah...And i dont even know about vectors

Ive allready altered the speed and gravity...

Altering the speed changing this line:

Is that right?

Gonna load in a grenade model now.

Yep thats right !
good good glad it all made sence !....and obviously you can just add the creation of an explosion when the grenade is hidden again.
Only one warning if you create alot of objects during game play it can have odd effects on the system (as the framerate changes alot) in these cases a setting the max frame rate is a good idea...if you alreayd have a set sync in your code theres no real worry !

looks good . Even though theres so many WWII games now, youll need to do something to make urs better/different.

Video games…they take you places unreachable, unfeasible. Putting you in the book...putting you in the movie...putting you in a world, that before could only be imagined. expage.com/piratesmainpage.

Ahhh i noticed a potential bug in my grenade system...easily fixed though !

after the

bit add a

remove the

from the move grenade routine and paste it in the main loop
eg:

This fixes a possible erratic launch of the grenade, was bugging the hell out of me so im glad ive found it !

so my whole code i gave before look like this now

I hope these changes arnt too much bother too implement ?
Enjoy !
