Some of you might know that I am making an MMOG, but most of you probably didnt.

My games web address is www.calltoarms.vze.com

There are some screen shots as well as other info located there!

I am 3 months into making the game, but my modeler has been been away for quite some time, but he should be back in a few days, and then its going to get moving quickly

Also, i took about 3 weeks off recently for working on it.

Plus I also did some work for it in visual basic.

GogetaX.. a mmog is a HUGE game. I have been working on my game for 2 or so months myself and its not even a mmog or anywhere near finished.

commercial games have HUGE devlopment cycles. 12 months is a SHORT cycle and causes fans of games to complain because it -isnt- enough time to finish a game properly - take a look at KOTOR2, stupid lucas forced it into a 12month dev cycle and it was almost the end of the game.

When he says hes 3months in it becomes quite clear that hes not writing pong

looks good fixxer Models are shaping up. Look forward to seeing where it goes

yea, so the game has the following features:

Ability to walk, run and strafe.
2 Guns (M4 Carbine and Desert Eagle)
An in game menu with two options so far
Menu sound
gun fire sounds
ability to change weapons and reload

right now I just have a test world up, and im working on a level editor.

Im going to have to re organize my folders soon and then change all the file locations in my code that should be fun. I need to mak e it so that all the media files are in a "global folder" so to speak, so its not in the individual level folder. That way when my map maker gives the objects file location, the game can use the given file location. Plus it would be much more organized

Ill have a write up here later on exactly how I am going to make this game feature wise.

And this texture is straight out of HL2

you have made 10+ mmorpgs? awesome - you have created more finished mmorpgs than there are out in the commercial market right now. You are going to be rich possiably. Please email me links to info and pictures of your mmorpgs so I can check out these amazing 3 day feats Dont paste pictures or links in here though, this is not our thread and i propose we stop hijacking it.

Thats the point of a test level. Not to be rude. Hopefully he wont keep that in there when the final levels come around (if Megaton is right).

You will download the Sector Selection screen from the website.

You will then install the sector selection screen.

Then you will create and account and login.

It will connect you to the sector selection server, which will list each sector that is online, and how many people are on line. it refreshes every 10 seconds.

You choose your sector, and the sector selection screen will open up the correct exe file. If there is an update, the server will notify the client, and it will download the new files before opening up the game.

As far as game features go:

Some rooms will be 20 on 20, others may be 50 on 50, depending on map size.

TDM and CTF style games.

TDM game lenghts will varry (around 10-20 minutes each)

CTF (NO time limit)

Player stats will be kept. There will be the following score charts viewable by choosing to do so in the in game menu. Score of online players (stats for players currently playing with you) Top 100 players monthly, and top 100 players all time.

It will track:

Points
Kills
Deaths
K Ratio
Flag Captures
Wins
Losses
Ties
Play Seconds
Cash(for ctf games only)
Experience
Average Bounty
Highest Bounty

For ctf games, there will be a store, where you can buy your gear, everything from ammo, to armor, to new guns.

There will be a real time chat at the bottom of the screen.

There will be a radar screen

There will be a scripting language for the chat that is unique to the game, which will return certain values such as the direction you are heading, your position on the map etc.

There will be private messages, and team only chat as well.

There will be commands that only moderators can use to do things like:
restart game, send arena messages, ban people, etc.

I think that gives you a good idea on what im shooting for

actualy, the texture is not from half life, its from yahoo images. its an actual photo taken of sand.

and that is just the basic model structure, its going to look like a moden soldier when it done

And i am planning on using that sand for one of the levels

Warning, this user has noticed impressive suicides on this forum yet thinks that they has not been dramatic enough. This effort obviously is being taken to cause the single worst reaction to anything in history since the holocaust... please assist as neccesary

@GogetaX,

Seriously, what is your problem? At first, I thought--that I was mireading your posts or that perhaps English wasn't your native language. But now I think your just plain abnoxious.

Do you think before you type? Why are you always trying to "one-up" someone here? Do you think that you are impressing us with your drivle? I guess I just don't understand your motives.

Please, oh please, tell me this was some sort of joke......

I think your sig says it all...

Well said zenassem, though probably not appropriate here As for 3 months into the game I say keep it up. I'm 2 months into building my basic controls engine and am too far away to see the "light at the end of the tunnel" so to say. Keep up the good work, and ignore the inconsiderate people of the forums that claim to be oh so much better than the rest of us.

Wow - beautiful site! Looks as though your all prepped up for a big audience (which you will unboubtedly recieve if this thing is successful)

On the subject of how long games take to create; 'The Movies' (Lionhead Studios) is now 3.5 years in Development. I want to see that when its finished!

With my project, (which is the revival of an ex-project) iI'm already at least a year into devlopment, and its going pretty well. Most the time has been spent planning; but with 3 months of pre-work complete, me and my 'team' (as such) know exactly what the player will be doing all though the game, and the experience we're trying to create. See my site (http://www.lightningstudios.co.uk/main/dc.html; click on my big logo to enter) for info
