Knoppix and other linux versions usually spit out something along the lines of
Warning: Kernel Panic; your current operation may fatally corrupt your MBR (Taint.o)
It isn't very hard to miss. Most people have one bad experience with Linux, and give up. They tell everyone else that its 'dangerous' and 'bad'; but everyone has had at least one bad experience with Windows or Mac OS?
I believe all this partial hatred is due to most people being afraid, and unable to dive into the void. I did this 2 years ago, and I installed Red Hat Linux 9. I've never had any real problems with it, apart from keeping it up to date. (Latest wine build needs 19 other dependencies, which I need to find and download by myself
