Who has seen the "trailer" for Killzone2 on the PS3? Like a mug i'm praying that it really does look like that - IN game. But I believe (with a heavy sigh) that it is just a flashy animation.

Anyone know different?!

PROJECTS:
All unfinished - to be released as retro titles in 5 years time.

Yep, I've seen it. Sadly its all concept vids (I assume) etc., but I like the atmosphere their trying to create though. Hopefully it'll be a great game (never played the original; I just randomly stumbled upon KZ2 on Gamepsy)

I donno, I have a feeling that IS in game... I mean, there's no crosshair, but then again, did CoD have a crosshair?

It's hard to tell though.

Well, if you look at the specs of the thing, it wouldnt surprise me at all if it WAS ingame. Also, the shooting did look very much like it was in-game, but hard to say really.

Yea, and another thing that points towards in-game... Gamespot, a website covering E3 2005, placed the video under gameplay videos. Which leads me to believe they have some info that suggests it IS ingame.

The developer said it's what they are aiming for, what they hope to acheive.

No that wasn't exactly ingame, they want it to be that good but come on, this is the team behind Killzone 1 (aka t3h supa awesome Halo killa).

I'm not sure about the validity of a number of the Playstation 3 games. Many of the GameSpy reporters mentioned not seeing much real-time stuff.

Honestly I agree, during the Sony conference we only saw them controlling a few demonstrations of the power of the console.

While Unreal 3 / Gears of War.. was running beautifully, with the guys 'josh' talking us through it while controlling the camera; it didn't match the sheer level of what was going on in Killzone 2.

Although I'm not doubting the graphics could be done on the PS3, the sheer number of soliders, that's what makes it a little iffy.
I mean you have at one point like 100 soliders running around, all of which doing thier own thing with what looks to be 15,000+ poly mesh let along the shaders.

Nvidia have still no unveiled the RSX power to the developer forum yet, so until I see the specs on that. I'm going to take the Playstation 3 footage with a pinch of salt.

Well it was still a sweet video to watch. I was a bit unsure myself as it had the exact same weapons from Killzone 1 in it (maybe they decided not to change them?). Characters were different though.

Sony mailed Gamespot and clearly stated that it was not pre-rendered. If you don't trust Sony, then draw your own conclusions, but I fail to see why they would lie about it

who cares about gamespot.. all i care about is when gamespy or gamesradar get information.

i'm not saying it's pre-rendered, i am hugely skeptical given Sony only sent out SDK and developer machines 2 months ago.

while the Unreal 3 could've been put together that quickly.. again the sheer detail in Killzone 2, it makes me think that it's just a concept based on what the console is capable of.

just my opinion really.

It may have been running real time on PS3 hardware, but it was NOT gameplay.

Yes, yes it was, the person talking about it, relesed that it is real gameplay.

I'm going to have to agree with the neysayers on this. I like sony, hell, the PS2 is the only console I've owned for the WHOLE generation (had both a GC and an XBOX at a point). I just think It just looks too good to have been put together so quickly.

Then again, ya never know, maybe it was... But to me, it looks too, well, fluid (it flows too well) to be gameplay at this point. Thats just my opinion though, we all have them.

From an interview! http://ps3.ign.com/articles/616/616591p1.html

Is the Killzone sequence a fair example of what people can expect from realtime gameplay on PlayStation 3?

Jan-Bart: Yeah, it's basically a representation of the look and feel of the game we're trying to make.

That means its NOT gameplay in the video, it's what they hope gameplay will be like!
