Hi everyone,
This may be the dumbest idea in the world, and now that i think about it, it probably is, but since im bored im going to write it anyways, and hope it doesnt get locked . I thought (notice past tense) it would be a good idea to compile a list of forum users current projects. Also if you have a website list it. A short 1-2 sentence description of the game, and hmmm...idk if it would be a good idea to post screenshots, maybe 1 screenshot. I know theres a "WIP Board", but some of them are just screenshots, and also it might be a good idea to put them all together, so someone could just scroll through here and think "That looks like a cool game", click on the website, and get interested in it. Im sry if this is a stupid idea, once again . So ill do mine:

Name: Pirates of Port Royale
WIP Name: Pirates...well idk
Description: Free RPG set in the setting of the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean". Do almost anything you want.
Team:
Nitrixik Studios-General Programmer
Lukas W-AI/General Programmer
Heckno-People modeller
Seppuku Giejutsu-General modeller
Gil Galvanti-Lead programmer/lead designer/"head" of team
Time in Developement:off and on for 1 year, 3 months.
Genre:RPG
Release Date: Possibly late summer 2005 for 1st demo.
Screenshots:

Website: http://expage.com/piratesmainpage

Note's: Id use http://www.imageshack.ws/index.php to post ur screenshots, its easy and gives nice little thumbnails that can be clicked on and enlarged . So my feelings about peoples responses are the two extremes: "This is a great idea", or "Your a complete idiot, whyd u do this, someone plz lock this thread" . Im guessing its gonna be the second one, but its worth a try .

Title: Entropy
Description: Complete freedom of career choice - be a pirate, a trader, a bounty hunter or even help fight space wars. Travel to up to 45,098 star systems realistically modelled with star data taken from the joint NASA/ESA Hip/Gliese star chart. You can buy and sell different spaceships. You can also buy/hire wingmates and can form convoys - basically you can run your own little fleet of ships. The game world also changes as the game evolves - some space empires will expand whereas others will contract. You will be able to participate in the border wars and may even have an influence on how these wars turn out. Dynamic market system means prices and goods fluctuate depending on your and other ship's actions (destroying ships heavily laden with food destined for a spacestation will eventually cause that station to starve, for example). Dynamic AI system means that the game universe is not centred around you and so the universe evolves continuously. Other ships AI mean that pirates automatically seek out and attack traders, police ships seek out and engage pirates, etc.
Features already enabled: Complete galaxy with 45,098 star systems. Largely complete local star systems each including multiple unique planets, moons, rings and spacestations. Almost complete astro-navigation controls. Largely complete ship AI (enemy ships form trading or pirate convoys, they dock with spacestations and realistically select targets and/or destinations based on trading patterns, etc.). Partly complete combat. Partly complete trading. No functionality yet to buy and sell ships.
Genre: Elite/Frontier style space trading game
Current Time in Development: 16 months
Release Date: Current intention is an alpha version released to testers in circa October 2005
Developer: Me. Also assisted by two professional modellers (in exchange for payment of hard cash!). Am presently looking for a collaborating coder as well as a musician.
Length of code: 35,000 lines+
Language: DBPro of course. What else?
Use of vector math: Way way too extensive. Vectors everywhere.

Title: Dream::Catcher

Description: Hybrid RTS/RPG game. The player is a freeform wanderer like-character, able to find native villages and take control of them (RTS-element). This an innovative idea, since most RTS game cast the player as simply just a camera; in my game the player is themselves, and customize their character appearence. There are also many other secret elements to this game (one of them makes the game stand out alot), but I wish to keep them secret ironically (make the player think they're playing some 'average' game; then add some secret sauce...)

Genre: RTS/RPG/hybrid

Current Time in Development: >15months (adapted from previous failing RTS, and combined with a new idea)

Release Date: Unknown

Developer: Lightning Studios (David Roberts, Harry Barmby, Josh Smith)

Screenshot(s): (Early)

Changed the picture. Sorry guys . People kept assuming I made the model (in the original screen) when it was actually royalty frre

Not me or my team!! It was free from Turbosquid. The model itself is actually kind of shoddy - its the texture that emulates the human shap (the head is actually sort of square)

That's the best screen I have at the moment sadly I'm intergrating the editor with my code today, so I should have lots of scenery soon.

I think I may actually change the screen (so people dont assume I/my team made the model). Sorry

Title: Online Survival Horror (what a cool name!)

Description: A free-form FBMOSH (fairly big multiplayer online survival horror). Meet up with people and try to survive in a city infested by mind-controlling-locusts (turning people into zombies). Barricade doors, radio for help, sit in a corner crying - whatever you would do in a zombie outbreak. Wow! This sounds like a n00b's program announcement.

Genre: FBMOSH

Current Time in Development: about half a year or so

Release Date: Beta during Summer (hopefully)

Developer: ME - otherwise I wouldn't be posting this

Screenshot(s): I've attached the best screenshot I could find (also starring Benjamin)

Downloads(s): None - unless you want a rubbish offline demo which is lurking somewhere in WIP

Title: Unknown

Genre: Puzzle (For the compo)

Description: A mix of Puzzle bobble and connect four. This is a 3d game where you control a grabber-arm-thingy which moves around on top of the board, which is a 3d cube (deformed, so it could be like: "11010111"(where 1 is a block and 0 is an empty space)) This will have some good AI

Modes: I plane for many modes. Some are:

*get all the blocks off the board (you and ai drop same color)
*classic (connect-four)
*opposite of the first
*puzzle (you have to accomplish a goal)

Developing Studio: Nitrixik Studios (1 person, ME!!!)

Progress done: Almost done with the level editor, soon to be on the W.I.P board.

Great idea, Gil!!!

Name: NightStorm (nights are DARK and desert storm was a BLITZkreig)
Language: C++
For: Linux platform only
R&D: 3 months design (200 pages) for core, 2 weeks codeing
Done: phase 1 and 2 done (editor working minimaly, compiler knows three commands)
It is: Games language based on Forth
Will use: Xlib and OpenGL (yup! 2D and 3D), Linux sound(ALSA) and keyboard/mouse system
So far: currently prints text and variables to screen, executes endless loops, editor skeleton complete, compiler just compiles lists of print statements and loops to defined points

not realated to DB, but more a replacement for DB under Linux (since RGT are not going that way but I am...ditching windows completley soon), if it gets finished (alllways a problem with my projects) it will be freeware but not open source since I want the language to go the way I want it too, someone is bound to miss the point and hijack it if it is open source, and it will end up with features it doesn`t need that break the design philosophy.

Mentor.

PC1:XP, P4 3ghz, 1gig mem, 3x160gig hd`s, Radeon 9800pro, 6 way sound.
PC2: Linux, AMD 2ghz, 512mb ram, Nvidia GeForce4mx, 16 bit SB.
PC3: XP, laptop, intel 2.6ghz celeron, ATI 9000igp, 256mb

Will post mine when I have more to show and there is a definate decision on the direction we are taking. We keep changing our minds (me and my bro). All I can say is it is built around APEX's .csm importer and is currently about the same state as the example I posted in the cshop forum except with better levels (as I didn't build ours) and alot of extra bells and whistles.

@LIT: K, cool, but this isnt a WIP, u dont have to have much to show, its just what ur working on . I wish my bro knew/wanted to program, hehe, thatd be cool, but hes too impatient, hehe. He likes designing games though .

@IBOL: Sounds like a cool game/idea .

@Drew Cameron - Thanks for the offer I just got a new job a few weeks ago so I've been way too busy with it and travelling to and from work (over 3 hours a day!) so I'm not sure how much I can work on the game. If I get any free time I'll give you an email!
