Hello All:

I am NOT sure if this belongs here, but I have an extra server around with LOTS of dedicated IP's and since it seems that their are quite a few people who want to make multiplayer games, I thought I would offer my services.

What I offer is this: A dedicated IP and a place to host your Multiplayer games. No ads, no popups, nada, zero. Just a place to set up shop and play.

Please let me know if you are insterested.

I agree IanG, but since I have seem many WIP starting to mill over to Multiplayer, I thought that it would be a good place. If a moderator doesn't like where it is posted, they are more than welcomed to move it.

As for a charge, I'm really open right now. It cost me $8 per IP per month, but I own the server (so space is not a problem). There are MANY free web sites hosting places out there but the entire point is that you don't have access to place any programs, just web pages or store files. You cannot run your own server at these places.

There is nothing more bothersome to read some of the forums whereas people say "ok, my IP is XXX and I will have the server up for XXX hours after I fight with the router to get the ACL working". Whereas what I am offering is a place you can run a program and say "ok, my IP is XXX and it is NOT changing when I reboot my machine or the router goes out, and the server will be up for 24hours a day 365/366 days a year"

@The Admiral:
Certain types of games? I was looking to host multiplayer games, but if you wish to store your own game that doens't support multiplayer, I don't see an issue with it. I am not saying "only MMORPG" or anything like that. If you wish to have a turn based RPG, that's fine too.

Remember, all this was a suggestion due to people not understanding how firewalls/routers work as well as people hosting from home with dynamic IP's.

@IanG Surreal Studio:
Space is not a problem, but I don't want the server being used as a backup of your hard drive. I would like it to be used mainly for gaming applications as well as the supported files that are needed for that. Yes, web space will be included with the same IP (you will have to purchase your own domain name thou)

More importantly, what are the specs of the server(s)? If it is to be used for game servers, it needs to be pretty fast.

Desktop: AMD Athlon XP2800+,Radeon 9800 128MB, 1GB DDR RAM
Laptop: AMD Athlon 64M 3000+,Mobility Radeon 9700 128MB, 512MB DDR RAM

and i'm sure that 99% of people wouldn't want their hard drives on a webserver - as everyone could view / download the contents
