Can anyone recommend a program that will detect physical faults on a hard drive?

My second HDD recently corrupted and then corrupted once again when I got everything back on and now it's taking a very very long time to format. Two or three times longer then normal.

Bleh, too many results to filter through with Google. I'm only looking for confirmation anyway. I'm pretty sure the drive is physically corrupt, bad sectors or something.

Thanks anyway.
