Only the mod who administered it knows, we don't have a database for noob slaps, unlike bans. It's not like it's a big deal-- don't post inappropriate and rule-breaking things, and it won't happen again

Dunno. Didn't exist when I was a n00b (2000 - the joined dates wern't ported over to the newer forums). My guess is after X amounts of posts. Do a search though.

What *exactly* is it though?

If he was noob slapped, it will only go away at the time the mod who slapped him specified. It's the same thing as newbie post approval but posting a lot won't make it go away

Ah. Interesting. So if a mod judges someone to be a uber-n00b, then they could state a really long slap period I take it.

The word 'various' is a little unsettling in the context of that sentance.

I slapped you, and I know how long it's for, but you'll just have to wait it out. That's the whole point of the system, so that you can't just go, ok... it's midnight... NOW, POST POST POST POST!

Just keep posting like normal, and if it's all clear, then the mods will let it through, no worries

Jess.

Yes. It's very handy, if you don't want to ban someody but want to send a message out to them or wnat to keep them under control, just slap them.

I love the button on the control panel - "Spank Them Hard" LMAO

You suddenly have to go through post approval.

If you make a new account (and you've already passed post-approval on the old one) can you ask a mod (a.k.a you) to remove the post-approval on the new one? Or do you still have to 'wait-it-out'?

You could let a mod know and we can bring it up with Rich. He will often take you of if you're known to be bona fide.

Can't really see a reason to make a new account though.

I had to get a new account because I didn't use the email address any longer, and it was irritating to have to use an old email address, every time I logged in

I had to get a new one sometime...

Just a suggestion but you know the mods have a little logo next to their avatar would it be an idea to put one next to users who have been n00b slapped? perhaps a bit of Public Knowledge will deter others to go Spamming

Dodo: I could change the email address I got new emails being sent to, but the actual login email address couldn't change... It wasn't anything major, but I figured I might as well anyway.

And at the time, I didn't no of the link you posted

Since I never went through the waiting period and haven't been "slapped" Does just the threads you create have to be approved or all posts even in existing threads ? I know I could read a bit and find it but am terribly sleepy/lazy so any insite would be appreciated ATM.

While under post moderation everything you do has to be approved.

BTW - you're only 'slapped' when you're demoted to moderation. Newbies automatically are just under moderation. Slapping them while new would be too mean.
