hi
i need help with my intel ac 97 oboard sound
i have installed the right drivers as it dont crash(like a every other drivers has) and windows says its working properly
but there is no sound that comes out of the speakers
i actually think it would be rather my speakers or windows cause i alsso have a different sound card to test it and sound dont work on it either but windows says its ok

my speakers when u touch it to something metal, it makes some staticy sound which i presume is normal and means that sound will come out(also when i had some other thing installed my speakers acted like the pc speaker and it beeped ok)

I have just finished reformatting/reinatlling windows 2k(pro) so i knwo it cant be a virus unless there was an error on the disk but it never came up with any errors

please help

yes well i would like to but im just a bit short on $

and also i found out that its not a hardware issue and what windows calls "compatable drivers" are not infact one of the uncompatible drivers is what i finally tested to get sound
but its not the real driver for it, it is onyl compatable and for some reason sound will but muted but will still make sound and adjusting volume has no effect(good thing my speakers have a volume knob)

so appearntly it was a bad driver
but tell me what is my actual compatable driver/hardware
is there a way i could find out

I have but I dont know exactly how to interpret a blank information box
i have tried 2 different stand alone drivers and both of them just have some error msgbox with the title information but no content

so what could be the reason for this!
