it won't write anything to the file. when it's done the file is blank, 0 kb. there must be something i'm missing

I can't check right now, but try deleting the file at the start of your code. I think I had a problem with that before, and get rid of the file exists stuff, I'm pretty sure you don't need it.

i included the if file exist so ppl knew it was there and that it wasnt a typo with the filename that was my problem

i tried your suggestion but it does not work. the file is there but it is blank

u do not understand
when u open to write it creates a new file automatically
and if it cant create a new file(it already exists) then it wont do anything

here is what u should be using




they really need to update that part of the help file to where it says "The file should not exist" and it should return a runtime error if it does(it dont but it should)
