Well, I got one free from Microsoft. I forgot what it was, but I found it, when I googled for "Microsoft Mike" Sam. these are voices to read texts, but in the same package there is a voice-recognition programm.

No idea, I only used it to dictate texts. But it was way too slow and buggy to make chat conversations with it.

I thought he wanted a program that would record input from the microphone and then compare it with a previous sample to work out if it was the same voice or not (i.e. voice recognition).

Microsoft Speech, it's free to download or bundled with Office XP/2003.

It uses the language bar which is default installation (in XP Pro atleast).. probably the best and cheapest solution.

Ok, I got that, but how do you get it to password protect things with my voice?

yeah but the case is HOW does he want it to be done.. using your voice for passwords is simple, but you have to go through specific steps in order for it to be a pure vocal password.

i only know it can be done, i have no idea how.
much like i can use my thumb to secure files, passwords, etc.. on my Thinkpad; but how the hell IBM set it up is beyond me.

you'll have to do your own research for once

in mac os x you would have to write a folder script action with a component from the speechlib or two.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 
