Hey getting ready to start a game. Upon the completion of my design document I realized that there are somethings that I don't know how to do.

1) Night and Day. I'm obviously going to make all the sprites to look likes it's day, but how do I make them night without having to redo ALL of the sprites? Is there a way I can put a filter over the screen so it looks darker? I highly doubt that I can adjust the brightness on the moniter through programming it. Although I could tell the player to turn down teh brightness on the moniter every time it's night LOL (just a joke )

2}In regards to traveling nothing bugs me more than trying to get somewhere while random enemies pop out every second of the way. I also want to stay away from avoiding enemies that you can see on the screen (the ones that chance you when they see you). I want the user to pick when or when he doesn't battle, but only to a degree. I really don't know what I want in this aspect, so this paragraph probably sounds really confusing, lol.

3)Probably the biggest problem is that I have multiple 2D artists working on the scenery and characters. Now since our game isn't a directly top down game all of our characters and scenery need to be at the same angle so it's not all weird looking. So my artists need some way to all draw at the same angle.

4)Does anyone here know where to get the following? Free Sound Recorder and Editor and a cable that hooks up the electric piano to my computer.

-Strad

If you are using DBPRO, you could make a sprite the same size as the screen and use the SET SPRITE ALPHA SpriteNumber, Alpha value command. This would simulate a screen color filter.

If you are using DBC, you could experiment with a simular idea, but use the transparency option with the SET SPRITE command. Just make a dithered (checker boarded) sprite image keeping one of the colors true black (rgb 0,0,0) and the other what ever you want.

In DBPRO, you could used the same method I mentioned above for DBC, but with a pasted image and use the SET IMAGE COLOR KEY command. This way you can make the dithered image any color combination, and you don't have to worry about using a sprite at all just an image.

Also in DBPRO, you could make a plain object too. Remember, DBPRO doesn't use true 2D. The sprites are actually 3D. Yes, you could mix 3D objects with sprites.

Does this help you?

Ok, problem 1,2, and 4 are solved. Now for 3.

3)Probably the biggest problem is that I have multiple 2D artists working on the scenery and characters. Now since our game isn't a directly top down game all of our characters and scenery need to be at the same angle so it's not all weird looking. So my artists need some way to all draw at the same angle. Have any of you come across that problem before? The only thing I can think of is to just do it by eye and tell them to redo it if need be.

RPGMaker has pretty cool characters already done, you may use them as a reference.

Stradigos,

Your artist will definitely need to draw their characters based on a given template. This template depends on what you are meaning ad angle. Does angle mean that the characters are at a complete profile(side) view, and are rotated slightly to some degree? May you upload an image from your artists, showing at specifically what type of angle you are speaking of? In doing this, I would love to help you all figure a template out.

A great free sound editor, named AUDACITY, can be found at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/! About the piano, does it not have usb support or sound output slots, which use the red and white coords, so commonly known?

You could use an actual 3D character as a reference. I am thinking Poser would be great for this. Render the character in outlined mode, then print it out to what ever scale you wish. Use it to compare the artists drawings.

I have some samples uploaded here (at 45 degrees left side).

Zergie- Thanks, I had that idea and didn't think it would be that great of an idea, but now now that you reconfirmed it I tried it and it's working good.

Nano Brain and D Ogre- Good idea you had there, but were looking at the Pokemon sapphire angle/graphics (Hate the game, but thats the best our artists can do and is the best example, just thought I'd clear that up, lol)

But Audacity is great! Thanks!

-thanks for all the help guys.
