I've just written a function to determine an (Windows) OSes version (I had to use the WinAPI - long story), it works on my machine but I need to test it elsewhere.

Just download the .exe run it and you'll get a message box with the result. Thats it. Then please post your result along with your actual OS.

Other than the included keylogger / trojan, it works relatively good. Although I have XP Pro, and it just said windows XP

Thanks for testing, I've also tested Windows 2000 and it works fine. What I'm really looking for is somone running 3.1, 95, 98 - although how anyone could use one of those ghastly old OSes is beyond me.

If you're talking about Longhorn, then they probably have changed the version number. Much like XP is NT 5.

Well theres nothing about Windows 2005 or Longhorn on MSDN, so unfortunatly I'll be unable to modify to code as yet.

Microsoft Windows NT 5.2 Media Center Edition Professional 2005, comes on all Alienware machines over the past 12months. It's been out a while, and is the replacement to Windows 2003.

version number should be 5.2.205, Windows 2003 will be 5.2.10x

There is quite a fair amount of information on all of Microsoft's Windows NT 5.x-Based Operating Systems. Longhorn has an entire section on MSDN dedicated to it.

I'm not using your code, I wrote the code in PureBasic (which is why I put it in application form here) and used MSDN to help me. I did look at some examples of how other people had done similar things on the PureBasic Forums but I didn't do a copy + paste job.
