RIP OFF ALERT.

geforce 7 doesnt have any new technology's, except an upgrade of some lighting thing, and its faster than the GF6, so what?

it's just something nvidea did to get attention away for ATI's release of their new cross-fire technology.

if you actually plan on buying a GF7, then fair enough, but you must be like uber rich to be prepared to waste that kind of money.

It DOES have an extra 2 shader pipelines, and another 8 pixel pipelines. Not to mention that this thing can do 16x anistropic filtering, and transparent anti-aliasing(which as far as I know GF 6800 doesn't support)

Besides, on most games(maxed out res, and maxed anistropic filtering/antialiasing) it just plain outperforms the other cards by between 10 and 20 FPS(the difference between 40 fps(playable) and 20-30 fps(unplayable)) so it DOES make a difference

Dumbass stupid forum.. I can't seem to answer with a code box.

Well, your right Froogle. With that small a performance gap it is hardly worth it.

mmm. 1.4 terra flops. If I remember rightly that makes it more powerful than what they are promising with their ps3 grphics chip. Strange. I thought itwould be less powerful.

RSX is 1.8TFlop, and 96Million Shader Operations Per Second.
So heh yeah the PS3 version is more powerful; but the GeFoce 7 GTX isn't the fastest card.

Dunno why it's called the GTX, but rumour is that it's slightly more powerful than a GT Version.. you still have Ultra though which are often push quite a bit more than the GT.

ohh. I thought that was both of them together. mmmm. That brings the total up to almost 4 Tflops. Now that´s alot of flopping.

I wonder if they´ll brng out the ultra version just after the ps3 launches so that people with more money than brains can brag about how they´ve got something more powerful than the ps3. ohh. So many ways to part fools with their money....

Not too long at the GF6 series cards will be dropping in price quite quickly.

I don't suffer from insanity - I enjoy every minute of it!

That's pretty pathetic for a whole new line of video cards. I don't see any new technology whatsoever. I mean, more horsepower is nice, but there isn't a single game on the horizon today that the best 6000-line won't handle quite nicely, and since these cards have no new features of their own, they seem pretty damn pointless.

No the Playstation 3 total power is 2TFlop
The actual processor is a fraction of the power of the RSX, which I've tried to explain on a number of occasions.

And how is the Radeon X-Series any improvement over the 9xxx-Series?
It's the same deal, I mean the 9800 XT was actually capable of running Half-Life 2 at near enougb Maximum Settings reasonably well.

Thing is modern games are improving, and as they do these new cards are going to become more and more important.

Perspectively these new cards do offer quite a bit.
The GeForce 6800 Ultra can run Unreal 3 - 1024x768x32@40fps, no joke that's it's refresh speed; Radeon X-Series is half of that.

So the first thing you'll note is that this new card 7800GTX can run Unreal 3 at 110fps, on the same settings. Another thing to point out is that the AA and AF have been overhauled. Now they'll run based on Alpha Channels and with as little as 5% Processing Cost. This means the same setting at 100fps.

As far as the low end 7200 goes, your looking at potencially 40-50fps.. which makes it AS playable as the current high-end $450 cards.

Another point to make are the new hardware features.
Half-Life 2 is adding HDR this August with 'Lost Coast', but this will require HUGE VRAM and also costs quite a bit of GPU time. This means that it takes an almost 50% speed hit in order to run it.
Hense why at E3 they were showing it on SLi 6800 Ultra.

7800 GTX however does it hardware. You'll see very little performance hit, somewhere around 2-3% if what they said was true.

So these awesome graphics that are just making thier debut will really start comming into thier own. Especially given Hardware implimentations of technology is often sharper than software becuase it doesn't need to be 'optimised' to make it friendly to all cards.

While sure, it is mostly a speed increase...
GeForce FX 5950 Ultra - 0.45 Million Polygons Per Scene
GeForce 6 6800 Ultra - 0.97 Million Polygons Per Scene
GeForce 7 7800 GTX - 1.8 Million Polygons Per Scene

We're talking characters going from 3,500 -> 7,000 -> 14,000 Polygons in a matter of 3 years. This is an insane improvement!

Sound business plan.

Oh for god's sake raven quit embarassing yourself. There is not a single person on this forum who actually believes you're privy to statistics that have not been released to the public yet, and it's a real joke that you attempt to build your arguments on this 'information'.

Mouse> Even if those statistics are wrong, the shader technology and HDR this card is running is DEFINITELY better than 6800s.

They ran Chronicles of Riddick with Shader 2.0 tech running, and the 7800 was the ONLY card that could run it at playable levels, and it could run it at 34 with 1280x1024 res.

Now that's one helluva card!

And it looked freaking amazing too. Link to my source: http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/229/21/

I would suggest you check Epic's Unreal Technology site, as well as the press release from Lan 2.0, and several reviews on the 7800 GTX.
Has bugger all to do with my 'privvy-ness' to information; more to do with the fact that this is informatino that anyone who's been following these new cards will know about.
