Hi, I'm making a space game, don't know why, i just felt the urge to, and it's got a crappy name, but looks quite cool, here's a screenie.

Looks like a cool start ! the cockpit is a little obtrusive though, you may want to change that or hanve multiple camera angles.
But a nice start...im looking forward to more !

You say the name's crappy, but you can change it later. Looks nice, but the planets ring is oddly colored, and you may want to do a final texturing of tyhe cocpit before the final release of this game (It looks fine for now, though).

The new picture with the rings looks much better, but you still should change it again. The problem is that planets with rings just don't look belivable when they're rainbow colored.

And the cocpit texture looks pretty good now, but the cocpit itself has a weird shape... have you tried the new texture with the old cocpit?
edit: eh. I haven't seen the game in action, so I wouldn't know how good the new cocpit actualy looks. I'll wait for a vid or a demo.

GogetaX: Your sig says 'does 1 + 1 is 11?!' That make no sense. Prehaps what you meant was 'Is 1 + 1 11?!' Or 'Does 1 + 1 = 11?!'

ok, heres the rings now

ill make a vid demo tomorrow, i hope people will like the game, even though nothing really happens, there are cool message boxes from AI. As for the cockpit, when you move around, it's not just locked on, its sort or smooth and has a little bit of movement to look real, but ill make the vid tomorrow, its 2:20am here, i better get to bed, bye zzzz

edit: oh, and the condition bar looks cool too, i think people will like that

Yeah those rings look nicer now.
I think you shouls add an option to hide the cockpit though as it really does intrude a bit too much.
Looking forward to the vid

Ok, use Fraps to record.
Set video capture on half size and dont record sound.
It will make a huge avi but you compress it with VirtualDub, a fantastic free program for compressing video (itll take a 170meg avi and reduce it to 7meg easily)

Like Baggers said... but...

Fraps 1.7D, to be precise it's faster than the latest edition and automaticly cuts sound reccording. From there, a 30sec clip can eaisly hit 90megs, so hit VirtuaDub, set it on 640x480 res, XviD codec, and save as an AVI (can't remember if it supports .wmv) Then use .RAR compression. That should cut it down to ~1-2megs.

Or, instead of VirtuaDub, you can try Windows Movie Maker... it's supposed to be really good, but considering how I've never managed to download sp2 I don't have WMM (WMM only comes with sp2)

yeah, but the problem is when i start recording the fps just goes right down! perhaps if i try the half size and no sound it'll be better, then ill get that virtuadub thing

Well, even though the screen fps goes down, fraps still gets everything at normal speed. It's just that your game will be a little jerky, that's all... I've been trying to make a Soldat movie recently, I've got some great stuff lined up, it's jsut that it took forever to film it because I wasn't used to the jerky effect it has on the fps

One other idea... film it with your eyes closed Everything should turn out fine as long as you're not trying to compensate for the loss of fps.

Just email it to my gmail account when you've gotten it ready
