Castle staircases go anti-clockwise from the top, so that the person defending has the advantage - except there is one castle in Britain (not sure where) that goes the other way around because the owner was left handed
. We used to visit castles all the time as kids and the person at the top of the stairs has a destinct advantage, not just with a sword, but also with a dog-poo on a stick.
I'm kinda glad that London got it in the end, we all take this stuff quite seriously and do get disapointed when it goes to other countries every time - I think we wanted it held in London for the right reasons, and that's why it's going there. I tend not to follow the olympics very closely, but I prefer it to all the other sports on TV, I largely hate Cricket, Rugby, and Football, I would honestly rather watch syncronised swimming and toe wrestling. Golf should be made an olympic sport though, I'm no fan but if prancing round with a bit of ribbon can be considered an olympic sport then so should Golf.
