Ok I've been watching a huge amount of horror movies for the past month or so and they're getting rediculus.

Every horror movie has people die right? And how do they die? Out of pure stupidity.

"Oh look, there's blood all over the walls and nobody's home"
<flicker>
"Oh and now the lights are out!"
*looks around*
"Hmm, what's this? An open door to the basement....with the blood going to it, and all I have on me is a flashlight. I know! Ill go in and see what's happening!!!"

Then a few seconds later the person searches around in the basement/closet/attic/anything else a little spooky, then you get a close up of their face, then they turn around and poof who is it noneother than the killer themself infront of the person, wait a few seconds while the killer says their solo line, then boom the person dies.

Continue on with this process for a while, then there are three people left now, the killer, the person the killer is after last, and the helper who will inevitably help the person the killer is after. So, the killer goes after the person, then the killer see's the helper and goes after the helper, next the helper is cornered and the killer is about to kill the helper, but what? The person to originally be killed comes out of nowhere and distracts the killer, to then allow the helper to kill the killer.

Then they live happily ever after if the movie isn't going to continue, or it shows them living happily after and then switches to somethin scary like a dead body if the there will be a sequal.

Thats one version. The next version more recently appearing is the one where the killer and the person to be killed are the same damn person. I've seen 4 hit movies that have had this happen...

There you go, I've described the next horror movies for the next 3 years.

I compleltly agree with you. The horror movies are getting pathetic. See the preview for "The skeleton Key"?

Dear god. And not in the scary way. I swear, if I see another movie were the camera guy is fuc*ing drunk, I'll lose faith completly. I understand the characters in the movie are scared and panicked, but the camera shakes and jolts so fast, it almost gives the impression that it's trying to escape and find a better movie to film

Scary movies have always been silly

But they were better then than they are now.

Give me a camera and half decent cast/crew any day.

Ever notice that if there's a black guy in the movie he always dies first? Lol.

Entirely untrue, one of my favorite movies which is Event Horizon(which i recommend you pick up if you havent seen it), has a black guy in it who isnt the first person to die.

Well horror movies are very basic, and consist of two parts:
- suspense
- tension

If someone doesn't die in this scene, you know they are going to die in the next. The only way to make horror movies interesting is to twist the plot line, like a main character dies or something.

JessTicular: Evil Stick, and Metal Artz - I've newb slapped you both.

An original horror movie would where everyone just dies in the first 7 minutes. Then the rest of the film is spent following the life of a stray dog.

If you want good horror films, try these japanese ones:

Ringu
Ichi the Killer (make sure it's the 128 minute uncensored version)
Audition (again, try to get the uncensored version)
Dark Water (make sure it is the japanese one, not american)

Audition & Ichi are two of the few films that had me cringing while watching them, and it takes a lot to do that to me!

All in all, I feel the japanese are far better at making films full stop then the americans, not just horror. Here're some other jap films worth checking out:

Avalon
Ringu 0: Birthday (prequal to Ringu, excellent portrail of Sadako by Yukie Nakama)
Casshern
Shao Lin Soccer
Kung Fu Hussle

I don't suffer from insanity - I enjoy every minute of it!

Night Flyer is what I believe it's called in America, Perokreco.

@Avan: They're releasing the prequel for Ichi. Probably won't be as good as the original, though.

Also, watch Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?

Shaolin Soccer is a Chinese Move Btw.
I would know as I am so obsessed with all of Stephen Chaos Movie. Especially this one, even bought the crappy comics by Andy Seto.

Anyways didn't they make an anime prequel to Ichi The Killer?

I can't be bothered with modern horror films, in fact the last decent horror film I saw was Red Dragon (the remake of Manhunter), it was very neat and followed the storyline of the book religiously. Thing is though that the book is probably about 10 years old, it has that fresh approach like Silence of the Lambs, really it's the storyline in modern horrors that suck.

If I want to watch a horror film, I watch Alien, or Predator or Pumpkinhead or something like that - the best horror films have great atmosphere, and sometimes even humour (like the best zombie flicks).

My favourite horror films

Alien
Predator
Night of the living dead(1968)
Hellraiser
Battle Royale(If this can be considered horror, which im not sure it can. This is more shocker)
The Shining(1980)

They just dont make `em like they used too.

Yeah, I forgot that point, same with Kung Fu Hussle.

Here're a couple of other japanese films:

The Black Angel

Yes, those are definately japanese films!
