Programming is as hard as you make it. Regardless of what language you choose, you have to choose the tool(s) that suits your objectives and dare i say it, skills the best. This might be PB, DB, DBpro or something else entirely different.

What kinds of programs/games do you intend upon creating ?

Anyway, at the end of the day PB is a procedural programming language, so some basic programming skills are required to use it effectively.

I was planning on make a side scroller or final fantasy type games. I don't have much expirience in db. Would it be easier to lean to code in play basic than DB, considering that all I want to do is make 2D games, not 3D?

I HATE people that ask old questions that have already been answered. So you, the one reading this, think about what you are going to post next! It's not that hard!

Generally yes, it'd most likely be easier and faster to code that kind of games in PlayBasic, as it has a whole lot more commands and functions to handle 2D maps and sprites. Best would be to download the demo and have a look at the demos and snippets that come with it (if you haven't done that already), and don't hesitate to post your questions on the forums.

I just bought Play Basic. I have studied programming in a technical institute in Italy (Caserta) and I have to admit PB is very easy and powerful!. I need to get used to the image manipulation so that I can make games. I decided to draw my images and scan them and then color them with paint. The results are pretty good. I just need to learn how to load them and update them with the game. The images are in bitmap format.Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can learn these methods? To answer your question PB is great for 2d games and "3d looking" 2d games like the RPG on a few years ago.It is enough for starters like us in the gaming field.
