Well, I had just typed up a long, drawn-out post wondering why my transparancies were being, well... not transparent, if I was loading up and using another image for the background and turning on the extra flag.

So, I'm posting this more to leave a quick pointer for anyone else who may run into the same problem I had. Basically, for my sprites I'm loading 256 color PNGs with a transparant color. For the background image, I left it set at 32-bit color, and that turned out to be the problem. So, if at all possible I'd suggest that you make all of your graphics in a program use the same color depth.

On the other hand, the only reason I had to reduce the depth and use a transparant color is because the default trans color (0, 0, 0) doesn't seem to like to play with the SPRITE command and it's ilk, just PASTE IMAGE. I guess it's just laziness on my part, but I'd rather not be bothered with loading up all the graphics, placing them on screen, then manually grabbing them before later placing them.
