Hi,
I was going to put this on the [TGC Future] e-mail thingy but couldn't remember the address.

My thought is such, what's the thinking on allowing users to ban people from their threads. Most people here are great, with only the odd weird post here and there but then there are certain people who always seem to cause trouble, and it's them I'd like to keep away from my threads.

I don't know anything about how forums work so don't know how easy or hard it would be but I think a lot of people would benefit in the long run, not only the people whose threads stay on-topic and spam free but also the people who change the way they behave because they suddenly find they've been banned from everyone's threads.

Apologies if you've already answered this question but I've read a few posts over the last few days that have made me more than a little cheesed off, and they weren't even my threads.

Thanks in advance.

Better idea.

How about a broken approval system that fails brilliantly at updating threads when the posts are allowed, not to mention screwing the post count over?

Well obviously you couldn't ban mods. But that does sound like something that could be useful. That way you could actually carry on discussion without worrying that someone will come along and start posting completely off-topic.

Yes, that'd be useful. Somebody was acting bad, just keep them away from your thread...

Nice sig generator, digital .

Yeah, a per thread-ban would avoid people changing the subject over past disputes (Raven vs. The World).

are you sure it isn't a little bit bigger than that?

This "banning" can result in 2 things. 1, it actually works. 2 (more likely) raven, jimmy, and others ban people who dissagree with them. And THAT would be bad.

How so? If they created the thread...they should be able to allow who they want to make for good discussion in their view.

Let's say that someone creates a disscussion... I don't know. If you ban everyone that posts against your views you are not having a disscussion anymore. It is a war between who can do something and who can't...

It really is something you have to visualize. A password to open any thread. You have to know the thread starter, and only post copies of what the original starter posted.

Of course not everyone would do this... but it can (and may) happen.

Agreed. He should spent that time getting the source boxes working properly again and so we can edit them or do away with them so people use the snippet tags instead.

who cares how GOOD they are,

we dont have enough, there's so much crap around these threads that no one takes care of, and all the mods have to say about that is "we have better things to do"

what i think, get 2 mods per more common board
1 for the less common

never have a problem again

I have a better Idea...

Have Mods on MORE.

How Many Mods Can You Spot?

Unjust1, Elron, NFL, Ninja Matt, ZioNz, PrestonC, Brendy boy, Banjo, X Trade, LightHawk, MikeS, Jonny Ree, Dangerous, Torq, Chenak, Nicholas Thompson, TDK, lagmaster, Cloggy, BigB, Jackson Guitars 07.

How Many Mods ARE there?

Techically the profile is dedicated to "BADUSER" if you wish to claim the title "BADUSER" you may.

"BADUSER" is anyone, I am just waiting...

A guy posts about a user having trouble reading... He later posts that he knows of no mod cp. It is stated that there IS a mod cp in the post directly above his.

What can we Infer...

Why did you fall for that little trick anyways? "Read my profile"

do me a favor... try to READ the posts..

Quote: " !!! Now you can put the following characters in projects,mails,proposals or requests and profile: <, >, '
- You can no longer assign Project Manager as a position to member you recruit. Executive has all the same powers as Project Manager except deleting the actual project
- Removed "None" as a member position
- You can no longer edit requests or proposals that do not exist
- You can no longer post requests, proposals and mails with invalid category/subcategory and people that do not exist
- You can no longer view mails and projects that do not exist
- Now your inbox turns green if there are new mails waiting for you. If you click on it, it becomes normal color again.
- Inbox now sorts the mails by their date(newest first)
- Now admins can assign moderators who can Edit or Remove Proposals/Requests that are violating TOS
- Fixed a major exploit where users could edit proposals and requests that did not belong to them!
- Now there are seperate image buttons for the edit/delete request to correctly display the website on 640x480
- The title bar when viewing projects is no longer blank
- When you accept a proposal, the mail no longer appears in your inbox instead of the accepted user
- Users that are already in a team can not reply to a proposal made by the same team
- When a project is being deleted, all of the references such as requests will be deleted as well
- Added the following categories/subcategories:
Writing
-> Articles
-> E-Books
-> Story Telling
-> Translations
Audio
-> Sound effects
-> Music
-> Voice actors
-> Telephony
Web Development
-> Hosting
-> Flash
-> Site Design
-> CSS
-> XML
Netowrking
-> Dedicated Server
-> Windows Server
-> Linux Server
-> Network Layout
Hardware
-> PC
-> Circuits
- Registration process updated, now you are no longer required to enter a nick
- When firing member, the text display properly now
- You can't fire member that are not in your team
- Project managers can no longer be fired
- Formatting rules are removed from the inbox page(since they could be cut)
- Now the option when leaving a team is "Yes, Leave the team" instead of "Yes, Remove the team""
"

And because I know you are gonna say otherwise... this is posted on the first page of the thread. Above my post about loging in

Well, I really think there should be a user rating. If no complants your user rating would be at %100. It could be displayed to the right of the user's name. To the right of the button that says "Profile" there could be a "Rate" button. There you can rate the user and submit a percent. Then the percentages would be averaged out for your final user rating.

The whole idea I'm sort of getting from how Ebay has that complaint thing. Its nice that ebay has this cus a guy stole $130 from me.

Tell me what you think guys,
