i got a driver disk here for some hardware
pondering which driver to install

im on XP and i have a choice of

NT driver or 2K driver

which do i choose?

2K/XP are built around the same core (derived from NT) so 2k is the way to go as already stated.

Just do like any normal person would do. Write NT on 50 pieces of paper and 2K on 50 more. Put them all into a drum and turn it for 3 days. Pick 1 piece of paper and use that one. That'll give you a good random option.

Or just use the 2k driver.

If your using Windows ME/2000/XP/MC/2003 then use W2K drivers. I don't know why developers still refer to them as Windows 2000 or Windows XP. They're identical between the OS, that was the entire point in introducing Windows Driver Model (WDM) ^_^

You will get minor updates between each new OS, to tke advantage of features, but older OS will just ignore them and not detract from compatibility.
