No text, but map scrolling like in Zelda the overhead perspective.
I can handle the rest except scrolling and animation of sprites.
I'm using DarkBASIC Classic.

Gez... classic is the worse program i've ever saw in my live! it's looks like kid's work....

i'm gona use this topic to ask something...
How can we make text disapear without clear all the screen?
Like there's a message box and i want to put the next message, how do i clean then previous message?

FDM Make the text a variable then have it equal the next message is the best I could think of.

I've used DBC for about two years now, and I have to say that DBPro would be much better to use, but it is still possible in DBC. Take a look at this:

I agree with Underworld 1020. Pro is better but don't think that just because Classic doesn't have as many commands as Pro doesn't mean you can't make anything good in it. I haven't downloaded all the puzzle competition entrys yet but a few of them have been written in Classic.

I just discovered last night that somebody made a remake of Ultima 4 using only Darkbasic Classic. The source code is even available for download. You can't say classic is bad now.

It's kind of hard when you ask without posting code of your own. Try things out yourself and if you can't get the code to work right post it and we'll help you. Always try to search the messages to find messages about the things you want to learn... chances are it's been talked about before.

For classic there's only one way to animate. When you load several images you can switch to another image on a sprite at anytime you want. In this case MA is the image number that sprite 1 is using... because it changes to another image that's slightly different it "appears" to animate.

Here's how to animate a mouse:



For scrolling a Zelda-like game you need to create a few tiles for a map and paste the map to the screen. I'm a bit bored with my current project (a text adventure) so i'll work on it a bit and post later.

It took forever to find a program to rip graphics from but I got it.

This creates a random map and scrolls around. Generally you'll want to load a map from a file instead. Think of it as a piece of graph paper. Each square in the graph paper represents a graphic. Piece them together and you get the whole map. This map is 500x500.

Use the arrow keys to move Zelda around (there isn't any animation) and ESC to end.

What are you talking about? I've been using Dark Basic Classic for a long time (three years) and I've had minimal trouble, and I think its a great program, and, you shouldn't bee dissing DarkBASIC software on their site, that's not 2 smart.
