The syntax changed slightly between Classic and pro, but the commands are there. In Pro, they are...

set music volume
set music speed
set sound volume
set sound speed

Can you load your music as sounds (wavs)?

I know it works well for sounds, I used these commands to emulate acceleration and deceleration of my cars.

If you have a program that modifies the types of music you want, such as .mid or .mp3, you can change everything you want there, so it doesn't have to load, and you can do it easier, and can listen to the outcome before you have to retest your game.

For this task, I use a program called "Nero: Wave Editor", which works phenomonel, and can even make and change .mp3s, but I have yet to find an editor for .mids.

I think Zotoaster is talking about controlling it interactively, Master Programmer.

For example, you might have the need to fade your music out at the end of a level. You can't predict how long it will last, thus you can't create a set piece of music with a set fade-out.

actually im making a music player, it would suck without having controls that change the volume or speed..

Still, you can better change the effect, yet, still load as a sound, which is probably the best bet. You can make your sound files all .mp3, like I do, which will cut down on file space.

A way of doing it is doing some research on the midi language, then quickly writing midi files to disk as the user edits them so you are able to play back. You may have a little delay when they hit the play button, but it will still get the same effect (Sibelius lags sometimes anyway).

OK, I see where you're coming with this Media Player thing. Just like BearCDP said, you should save a temporary file.

Your best bet is just loading the sound media as a Sound instead of Music. That way you can manipulate it how you want.

Oh come on, where's your sense of fun??

You can convert Sounds or Musics to Memblocks, and play around with them there.

I'd insert an excerpt of the DBC help file right now, only I didn't bother updating DBC properly so although I have a 1.13 compiler I only have a 1.08 help file. Ahem.

Syntax Error - Learn to type, you fool!

To master programmer

A nice MIDI changer would be Sibelius, a professional MIDI editor. Bit expensive though.

Thanks!(for..whatever it is you did...)

If you're going along THAT line, try DirectMusic Producer sometime, too - It's got a very nice interface and is completely free, and can export to MIDI as well.

[Insert extremely witty comment here] :: Add me to MSN if you like, but don't expect any big favours [unless you like VB6]. ... IDK!!

Good Idea, and i just had one too! If he wants the music turned into wavs, why doesn't he get audacity! He could just open the mp3 file and export as a wav!

Here's the site
