TSS was one of my favorite shows on TechTV before G4 ruined it, and that's saying something, because every show on the old TechTV was awesome.
The reason TSS was awesome was because you could learn alot about computers. Without TSS (and the excellent TechTV website which G4 also ruined) I would never have discovered Dark Basic, for example. I wouldn't have been able to build my own computer (which I'm using now), and without TSS (and Call For Help, God bless you Leo Laporte), I probably wouldn't know half of what I do now.
All that changed when G4 took over (and don't give me that "merger" bunk, it was a takeover, pure and simple). They ditched everything except TSS and X-Play and filled the rest with glorified ads for crap games. And then they got rid of the educational and community aspects of TSS, which were the core of the show.
In the end what they had was so different (and so much worse) than the original TSS, that they couldn't even call it TSS anymore. And so, from the ashes of greatness, you get Attack of the Show, a hollowed husk of weird websites, dumb side-skits, lousy actors, and corporate media selling product.
Sorry if I'm ranting, but I'm
very passionate about this subject. This is, of course, only my opinion.
I edit my posts, and so should you!
