A local buddy of mine was listening to me whne about DBPro...
He sympathized with me saying he had bougt Dark Basic,
when there was only Dark Basic... He offered me his copy
since he dowsn't have it installed, nor use it it any way,
I declined because, if I go forward past the evaluation
period I'd buy DBPro...

Today I was over at his house, and he had the box out,
I looked at it and to our surprise it was Dark Basic
Professional v1.00... He said he had tried it and got
no where with it, and again offerd it to me. I said sure.

I brought it home and installed it, upgraded it...
And I now have a full version of 5.8... ~sweet~

If there are any serious legal issues about me using a
given legitimate CD... please let me know without flames
and threat. I'd be happy to buy a license for my self
in 20 some days when my trial would have run out, assuming
I get the knack of the language first.

He's now developing in python & pyGame with SDL...
And said to keep a look on the sourceforge project
SDLBasic. Which I of course will...

~~ANYWAY~~
Here's the rub... I thought the Trial was 5.8...
In the IDE the about had claimed 1.058. But looking back
at the download, it was 5.3...
So all the damn bugs and issues I have been complaining about,
and argueeing about, and whining about... er, most aren't
an issue in the Final 5.8...

But as with most languages, a change in version breaks some
working code... MAKE MEMBLOCK FROM FILE is utterly broke...
It crashes to the desktop without as much a a beep.
But a work around is to CREATE MEMBLOCK <#>,1 before trying
to make with the file. ( 2 hours of my life I wont be getting back )

And now that I have that fixed, PLAY SPRITE, which gave me fitz
in the Trial is now broke in the Full ( or at the very least
implemented differently )

It used to work as

`create
`paste
do
`play
loop

Nothing doing now...
( any help would be appreciated )

But more importantly, What other significant issues do I have to
look forward to?

Start by doing a search in the bug forum for any issues you have. You will be able to see if they are confirmed, fixed (to bereleased in next upgrade), rejected because the way it works has changed, or any other issues.

Batvink, unfortunately, some unfixed bug reports have been misteriously vanishing lately .

Dejunai, as long as your friend isn't using DBpro (ex: doesn't have it installed), you're transaction should be safely within the legal zone. Piracy is when one user buys something, and because it's digital he/she makes copies of it to give to others - so now there are hundreds of copies of a program when only one was paid for.

Yes, the patches all cause new errors, but those get fixed too (of course leaving more commands broken). You get used to the cycle...
