Emulators are possible, but only for PSP's without 1.50 update or higher. Keep in mind also, that homebrew programs are illigal on the PSP also. I'm not sure whether the PSP's you buy now come with 1.50, but newer games like Coded Arms won't run without it anyway.

You can go to the updater program in the menu ((I'm not positive excactly where - i haven't got my
PSP yet, but i read up on it just about every day)you can only update this way if you are connected to a wireless network), go to the PSP website and download it then use a USB connector to trasfer it or you can install it directly from a game that requires that update.

Wrong.

My PSP is 1.50 and I have a stack of emulators and homebrew stuff running on it with no problems.

You should be able to get everything you need here:

Web will only be possible with update 2.00 (currently only released in Japan and will be released here on August 12(you can download the japanese update to a north american psp though)). IM is still unavailable officially unless you know of some sort of internet based one.

Yep, lots exist that interact with actual messengers. There are web-based versions of MSN, AIM and Yahoo and probably others too.

You can use emulators on a PSP? How?

If you have a goal, work on it until you fall to the ground.
