Another way to get our money - sorry, but I'm not buying. There's been an explosion of editors recently, and I'd much rather use my IonRay (in development) or PowerSoft's Fuse, or even the original IDE - it works. TGC always charges at least $15-$20 US for its products, and that's way too much with so many free ones out there that are just as good.

Exactly my point - why does this IDE get TGC support and product charging supported while BlueIDE goes for free, although BlueIDE is currently much more stable and in a non-beta state?

Hi Guys,

I know you feel disappointed to see a IDE come out of no where after you have spent a long time developing your own, however Omega Basic my own program needs an IDE. As Omega Basic is already sold through TGC product, it was a good move to allow Dark Basic users access to the IDE. A lot of time, effort and resources have gone into this program, and will do for the foreseable future. I have been on the DB scene for a long time, I am not a big forum poster, but it doesn't mean I am not involved in DB Pro and it's technologies.

If you don't want to buy Synergy IDE, then you don't have to, you can use your own IDE, someone elses or the original one.

Finally, Xolatron, good luck with your IDE, I will be watching it closely

I understand that Omega Basic needs an IDE, and I don't have anything against you developing an IDE, or even you selling it. It just seemed that TGC was replacing the Original DBpro IDE with yours, just like all the plugins are coming out for DBpro when many of the commands provided by them are needed to make a good game.
Good luck, though. If your IDE might cause more people to come to DBpro, I'll be glad.

I'm a little against the idea that we debug it FOR you for FREE and then you charge us for the final product that we helped you make! Especially considering the beta that I used didn't really shine much.. It just looked like a text editor with and Office '03 look..

Isnt that exactly like any other beta test? I'm currently beta testing Ratchet: Deadlocked for the PS2, and we're doing the bug testing therefore we're helping them, and at the end when a retail version comes out we'll be paying for it.

But the issue is how many bugs are there? If there are so many bugs that the thing doesn't run without having a error then it was released too soon and he should debug everything that he can find before releasing it again.

You don't want your beta to look like crap, it drives customers away.

my only gripe is that why do all ide's have to follow the vs style (i hate it). i'll stick to the original ide.

i wont be buying. probably write my own if i have the time.

Well I will be using Blue IDE until something better comes along. I am currently watching the progress of the new ones though and they seem to have potential as long as they get finished. Also does anyone know how much Synergy IDE will cost?

If you don't like the vs style then I suggest you stick to notepad, every successfull IDE out there uses the same style.

I've reduced it to 115k

You will have to do a shift refresh to see the change due to caching

BlueIDE, Twilight.... I think it would be unfair to use Synergy as a replacement for DBP. If i have an account with TGC and sell some products will i get the next product i release stickied directly? I want my IDE (and Ian's ) thread to be stickied...

As far as I'm concerned, it's another IDE, just it's sold through the TGC website. It doesn't look like a replacement IDE to me. I don't know why people should have a problem with it.

Your missing the point here guys.

From your screenshots of Fuse, you have miles to go before you begin to catch up with Synergy.

Synergy IDE has had a tremendous amount of capital invested into it, as well as backing from some large companies.

Including www.xenocode.com and www.excelsior-usa.com

Synergy IDE is going to be a fully functional commercial product GUARANTEED. I am not playing with vb6 or VS.NET in my spare time, this is a business decision. Omega Basic is an important program that is being translated into Japanese, Chinese, French etc, and needs to be up to the job. So when you can honestly say you can beat Synergy IDE I will take your seriously.

And always remember, an IDE (or part of an IDE - MatchStick) written in its own language provides a powerful showcase example.

Putting your ide sy-thing on the TGC website will make it look like a replacement - even if it is not intended to be

Expansion packs are good because they extend the language - but having to buy an ide so you can properly develop - stuff that

oh yeah - people are making an ide using blue gui, but they are not as good as ide's made in vb.net or c++ because DBPro is a memory hog

The only reason I wrote matchstick in pro was so that people could see what the media would look like in their game

I was not putting it down, I was stating the facts, from my previous threads I am in fact looking forward to these releases.

But for some reason, a lot of people have taken this personally, as an attack against their work, and quite frankly I am disappointed with the community.

The original IDE is DEAD. It is up to YOU whether you buy Synergy IDE

You should be - all of us here who are making ide's for free do it in our spare time, so it isn't going to be as good as your super dooper I've got commercial backing s-thingy, but we are doing it for the community, so that people can create better programs and games, not because we need cash from a quick project

Hah, you still think I'm facing that issue? I solved that ages ago. My IDE runs on 4% CPU and takes up about the same memory as Windows Explorer.

Not really. Just because a program isn't being developed anymore doesn't mean it's worthless. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the greatest game ever even though it was released over a year ago and isn't being upgraded anymore.
