I'm making a zelda clone for a retro competition. It's going to be a very simple version of zelda... Right now I have a map editor that can make basic maps, and the main game which loads up the map, picks up the starting point from the map, and puts a moveable player there.

I'm going to eventually make three different arrays for each map, one which holds tile data, one which holds event data, and one which holds collision data.

Right now I just have the tile data array done.

There is a screenshot attached.

Todo next: Add collision layer, add GUI in game.

I think it's really stretching it to consider this a work in progress surely!

It looks like 2 minutes work in Windows Paint, loaded into DB and screen dumped with the mouse pointer for added realism...

When will people realise that WIP is Work In Progress - not Work I Pretended.

Must try harder.

TDK - way too harsh and somewhat out of order. Thats how most my tile maps look when I start and they just have basic tiles in the tile set - but engine wise its still alot of PROGRESS. If it wasnt enough to impress you then you shouldnt of replied.

Myself, I love tile maps. I consider them a speciality of mine Looking forward to seeing more Izzy

@Sephiroth, thanks for the encouragment, it's just what I needed

I've gotten an enemy on the screen now, and am working on making the map editor more functional. Soon the enemy will have basic A.I. + there will be the ability to attack it.

I agree with TDK, this is pretty much two minutes of work, if you havent even made the enemy attackable then what have you done? can u even move? i suggest you get on with a little more 'progress' as this is a work in 'progress' board, and post back later once the game is at least playable...
